Recommended Posts

How? Did u get sleeved?

No not yet. I am supposed to be sleeved on Feb 11th. H. Pylori should be taken care of pre surgery so there are no unnecessary complications post surgery

H. Pylori is a bacteria that can cause ulcers. To my knowledge there are no symptoms its just when u have bloodwork done they test u for it. U dont want to have h. pylori with the sleeve because ulcers and the sleeve dont mix. I guess alot of us just have h. pylori without knowing. Its so random:/

I had the H.Pylori also, I was so bummed 'cause it delayed my surgery for a month, but after all the medications (and it was alot) it was gone. I never even heard of H.Pyolori until I was tested I never had any symptoms but my doctor said most people don't until there is a problem but I'm glad this problem is over since I heard it can lead to stomach cancer..

Good Luck!

I have no idea..

After the 3 weeks of antibiotics the breath test only took about a half hour to get the results at least for me.

Best Wishes and I hope everything turns out well and have a Safe Surgery!

I had symptoms. That's why I was tested. I had severe pain on my right side that radiated into my back. The ulcer was in the Duodenum, not my stomach. Most ulcers are caused by H Pylori. They used to think stress caused ulcers.

I had it way before I was ever sleeved.

H. Pylori is a bactria strand that lives in your stomach. Like 60 percent of people have it and most never know it. symptoms include, black stool, burping, stomach pains. it can cause ulsers in some people and like 1-2 percent cancer. stress and spicy foods make it worse. they scope for it prior to the sleeve and bypass bc they dont want the bactria all over your body. it is curable/treatable after surgery but they dont usually do surgery with it...

im starting my second round of the antibotic pak bc mine didnt go away the first time. im already 2 months postponed on my revision surgery and idk what this latest round is going to put me behind on. it totally sucks..... i have no symptoms.

Oh ok....well I am going to ask my surgeon what to do..thanks for letting me know my potential options:)

Once you test positive for H Pylori, you will always test positive for H Pylori.

The only way you can test for it after you've tested positive, is through a stool sample.

this person is wrong. that statement is not true at all. they can do breath tests, stool samples and blood work. and once you have it and treat it its supposed to go away. if you come back positive you still have it. its not like TB lol

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
