New to group from Dominican Rep.

Hi all! I am scheduled for surgery on Feb. 5. I am having the surgery here in my native DR. Even though we are a 3rd world country, I am having my procedure done with the best of the best, and am totally confident in my doctor. I think this is the kind of procedure that you dont look for deals with. The only thing that kind of scares me is the drainage tube they leave in after surgery. YIKES. I hope to be of support to all of you!

Good luck I'm not Dominican but I've been married to one for 22years and we have 3 girls. Been many times I have a lot Dominican friends who have had surgery (Plastics lol) in DR. No problems. My daughter even had an accident while we were there and she had emergency surgery on her eye and she was fine the Dr. here at Mass eye and ear which is a famous hospital said they did an excelent job and saved her eye. No worries. I had my surgery in Boston and the scares are nothing (being fat is worse). The drain scare is the worst but it's not even bad. It's been four months and you can't even notice them. My husband is from Santo Domingo and my favorite place is Samana I make sure I visit there even if it's just one day every time I go. You will be fine. Keep us updated any question this is a great place to get answers.

Hi ljperez!

Congratulations on 22yrs of marriage! I am from Santo Domingo as well. Im having the procedure done at Abel Gonzalez. I am very excited. I just keep thinking about the moment AFTER the tube is removed. I also LOVE Samana. I try to go to las terrenas every year. Thanks so much for the support!

Hi Marie12. My doctor is Abel Gonzalez. It is costing me US 8,500... That does not include all the tests I have to take, but it cover the hospital stay and honoraries.

Well, any questions you have just let me know. There is another doctor that was recommended to me. His mame is Dr. Betances and he is just as good. I did A LOT of research on both, and even consulted with both doctors.
