Sounds like you might have a pretty nice car, have you considered selling it and getting something minimal for a while so you can get the surgery sooner?

I have thought about selling it... I'm just confused on what to do. I was really hoping that the loan would have went through :(

Get* I think if I had that issue I'd just put it on a credit card. Ya there's interest but going to Mexico is pretty cheap anyways.

I really messed that up when I was younger. I had 2 credit cards with $10,000 limits on them and by the time the interest and late fees piled up on it, it was ridiculous. I pretty much ruined my credit over that. It got out of hand and I didn't pay it back. Just young and dumb. Now that I actually need it, I can't get it.

What company did you go through? Which one is it that r4ac is using?

Jesser, I am in Finance, and can tell you from my experience, a company that may take your car for collateral, and loan you the amount you need depending on the circumstances would be Springleaf Financial. I have had clients that were able to borrow from them within less than a year after foreclosure and bankruptcy. Maybe give them a shot?

Best of luck!!

Jesser,

The good news is that this surgery isn't going anywhere, it will be here when you are financially ready. Take some deep breaths, take care of yourself and your son. When you get your financial house in order the surgery will come.

I see that you have gotten yourself in credit trouble before. Be patient, don't fall into desperate lending barely getting yourself enough money to get surgery type credit. think long term about the financial impact.

I agree with Laura-ven, don't strap yourself financially and certainly don't get into anything you can't handle. Especially if you are going to be putting your transportation up for collateral, only do this if you know you can afford it for the duration. Otherwise, this surgery will wait for you when the time is right financially. I am a huge believer that everything happens for a reason!

I'm with you 100% Laura. Exactly why I recommended downgrading cars. I'd rather be thin driving a $2500 hoopty than obese driving 10-15k car. And being debt free just makes it all the better

I sold my 2 year old Nissan Sentra to help fund my surgery. If one is serious about getting it, then one will do what they have to. :)

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
