My surgery is the 11th. I am doing 2 days of liquids and Protein Drinks. Kind of scared. wondering and hoping. I have three weeks off of work, hopefully covered by short term, if not, i will be short some funds come the end of the month.

I wanted to update everyone again. Surgery was on Monday, I went home Wednesday and today I feel 95% back to normal. The sleeve is amazing.

I have no issues with fluids or Protein Drinks, my taste didn't change. I can eat about 3 oz of yogurt, pudding, Jello and it's equal to 3 trips to a buffet, stuffed. ( these are on my full liquid diet).

The only pain is from my larger incision and that is almost gone. I've been able to walk 1/2-1 mile since Thursday.

I was so scared after reading a lot of stories on this site and there is nothing to worry about. Have faith, and follow Dr orders and you will do great.

I had my two hour post operative training last night where we went over the diet, shopping guide and what's going happen at surgery. Didn't realize how severe the food restrictions are. For the first two weeks there is no foods that are allowed to be chewed And I had no idea that you cannot have steak or pork for up to three months after your surgery. They gave me a list of of things that I should buy a GMC regarding my Liquid Protein intake and they also gave me a list of supplements that I'll need to take for the rest of my life but there is one of my hospital offers that I can say that's cheaper and equivalency to seven other types. Has anyone else received this information for going through that's also?

I know it currently doesn't sound like it but your lucky. My dr is EXTREMELY conservative about the food transitions. 10 days clear after surgery, then 6 weeks of Protein Shakes, then 1 week each of progressively chewier foods. This is the hardest part for me.

As for other stuff preop: Vitamins for the rest of my life, a little card that says "HEY NO NG TUBE something something i forget" no pork or beef for 6 months...personally I might do beef sooner if it was like filet Mignon (as it's tender) but still i'm talking like 4-5 months out...I mean if we're eating a grand total of 2-4 ounces of beef, hey that's kind of an actual dinner sized portion at ye olde steak house and I'd look relatively normal eating it w/ everyone else.

For me, having planned this whole thing since May of last year, I still feel relatively unprepared for the changes even after the surgery. I had a longer recovery slightly. Things still hurt and my throat was just ravaged between the bougie and the anesthesia tubing and what not. I had full on spasms that when from the top of my stomach to the top of my throat that made me never want to put anything down there ever again.

I also came home and looked at my feet. Which are swelled. I got on the scale because I just couldn't figure out how that could happen and what do you know 20lbs heavier...probably all Water.< /p>

I'm babbling. I know. I can't help it. I got home from the hospital today and I'm kind of all over the place. They told me I could go home and burst into tears in front of my mom who was as usual completely unprepared for it.

Right now I'm back at my pc and feeling more like myself than I have since Tuesday. I might be ok after all!

I COMPLETELY agree with 4My2Boys. We had our surgery on the same day. I'm planning on going back to work on Monday (yep 1 week post op). I feel that good. Luckily my boss is awesome and said work as little or as much as you like and don't worry about the money.....nice company huh??? But I plan on doing a couple hour meeting on Monday and see how I feel from there. No heavy lifting required in my job and I can come home whenever I feel like it. The surgery wasn't that bad! My knee and back surgery was 10 times worse. So glad I had it done!!

I think it's probably a lot harder on the younger ones. I've has several surgeries and sort if know what ti expect (surgery wise) ....if this is your first experience with being put to sleep, recovery, etc it's scary! The waking up part is just tough. It takes 3 days to start feeling normal! I hate surgery, but it's such a small part if what wonderful things await us!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
