I was scheduled for Feb 5th but it was postponed due to a hernia found during my egd. I'm going for a second egd with bravo on the 12th and surgery on the 19th. I'm excited i became discouraged and cheated a little. i lost 10 lbs during my pre-op diet i started again today. hopefully I'll lose an additional 10.

I was sleeved today 2/6 too! Quite a bit of trial and error to get me to a comfy place (they had to double my dose of pain meds and increase the frequency to every 2 hours). I don't really have any gas pains though so that's cool. One weird problem I'm having though is my throat is swollen?! Didn't expect that. They may bring in an ENT doc to take a look tomorrow. I've been assured they won't try and take out my tonsils right now but I'm still a little worried. All in all I feel pretty good for someone who just got their stomach chopped off haha (:

Yeah for some reason I'm getting my dilaudid through shots in the arm. I would SO rather have a pump to control myself. I have to call the nurse in every 2 hours or so for my next dose so sleep is pretty much nonexistent lol. I fall asleep for an hour and then wake up realizing my tummy is about hurt. Atleast it's working though. I'm sad bc they just took away my ice chips until I do the upper gi leak test tomorrow. Do you have those mouthwash foam lollipop thingys too?

But the pump every 10 mins is hard to sleep too because you have to stay on top of the pain...if you fall asleep it takes forever to get back on top of it!

Ok.....so stupid question.... when you guys talk about gas pains do you mean you burp to relieve the pain or the other end? This makes me nervous!!!!

Yeah, for laparoscopic surgeries they kinda pump your belly up with gas so they can see what they're doing and after surgery some is trapped in there. It can def hurt, so to relieve it you have to walk, fart, burp, or use a heating pad. My nurses keep asking me if I've farted or burped yet LOL it's so strange to hear that so frequently

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
