Who woulda thought a cheeseburger post would incite a riot?

I enjoy slider size cheeseburgers at home without the bun with some sauteed mushrooms and onions., maybe some pickles on the side.

I haven't eaten any donuts, but I did enjoy a few pieces of pie over the holidays. Once in awhile I think its normal to have a little indulgence! I'm not at goal yet but I will be, I have faith in my ability to get to my goal.

Actually lean ground meat and cheese is good in Protein. Why is that a bad thing minis the bread?

Exactly, use lean ground turkey, make it palm size, use reduced fat cheddar, half the serving to cut calories, and add a sliver of onion, tomatoe and low fat mayo. I would say its a total of 175 calories and loaded with Protein. There is always a bariatric version to a craving. Omit the bread, its gonna take up space for protein

I'm sad for you! I love the way an innocent, and very good, valid question was posed by you and the same people come on and go off topic. I'm getting sick of this too! I post a lot, but read a lot more and find there are 'cliques' here just like HS! I'm ready to leave too.

It is kind of amazing to me, too, that people (I haven't even kept track of whom, I am relatively new to the board) feel that they are qualified to judge other people's decisions. Not just on food, but even on whether they are obese "enough" for the surgery. When I was deciding whether or not to do it I was kind of shocked that some heavier people would opine that so and so, at "x" BMI, was just not heavy enough to justify the surgery. Now, reading the post-op forum, I'm surprised that there are people who think that that their idea of what is acceptable to eat is the final authority for the rest of us.

Like everyone, probably, I read certain points and think "duh, of course that's not a good idea". But I keep the thought in my head, where it belongs, I don't put it out on the screen to make someone else's day worse.

I still come here every day and read, but I mostly hang out at the obesity help board.. it is much more positive there.

I think you have anger management issues' date=' not to mention you're just plain rude. If someone can't disagree with you without you resorting to name calling....sheesh. You said there is life after surgery, and made it sound like that life included eating junk food. I just asked the rhetorical question, why does life have to be about eating food that we know is bad for us? That was the kind of thinking that got me to the point I was before surgery, and I can't be the only one.[/quote']

Trust me, you are not the only one.

Thank you.... I appreciate it. Eating a donut does not make me unhealthy it makes me human...

I'll eat a chesseburger right along with you...someday (only 5 weeks out) I am not big on complete deprivation as I have found in the past that it only spurs bingeing and such! :)

I also have to say that you took my message way too serious and that your fat for a reason hun.

Really? I am honestly so disappointed with where this thread has taken people. You would think you could come to a website like this to get support and have conversations and I would also think it's the last place that I would have to worry about being called fat and someone rubbing it in that it's my fault I'm fat for whatever reason. You should be ashamed of this comment...it is just beyond rude. :(

I think it's great that some of you are strong enough never to eat 'unhealthy' again but this is not true for all of us and is not cause for the type of judgement that is being passed. I do plan on enjoying some unhealthy foods because to enjoy in moderation for me allows me a somewhat 'normal' lifestyle and I don't want to give that up. I am not too surprised that Dianne responded so negatively to many of you because the responses to her honest post were rude and sarcastic. This thread really has me disappointed, no offense meant to op...it just got taken to a bad place.

Nope never ashamed. Someone calls me an idiot for no reason. Don't be so sensitive. I'm a good friendly person and lots of ppl here know that. But when you attack me for no reason I'm not going to hold back. And I'm sorry if your sensitive about your weight but all of us are fat. I mean common really. Hello I'm super fat, that's why I got the surgery. I'm just tired of ppl talking down to me. So lets put our adult pants on and chill. And truth is not rude.

Just ask yourself, did you really get your stomach cut out to still eat cheeseburgers? Obviously you can make a healthier version but since that is so basic/elementary I am assuming you mean regular fast food hamburgers. Thats choice everyone has to make for themselves. We all know how bad that type of thing is for us.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
