Long story short. I lost 26 pounds on my own but after booking my date... ended up gaining a bunch back (bad I know!) I was told if I didnt get back to what I put on my sheet and if they didn't "feel" like I did the liquid diet, that I wouldn't be allowed in the complication fund.

On my paperwork I said I was 249

Jan 1st,2013 I was 261.4 ...... after 13 days of liquids.... I am at 245.6 (-15.8) ... I have been stuck at this weight for a week....I for some reason can't get past 245 even on a liquid diet... kinda discouraging...

I'd like to be at 240 for surgery on Monday so that it shows I DID do the freaking diet, even longer than supposed to!

Anyone else stuck on the liquids?

What is a stall? How long does it last and how do I break it? A stall is a point at which the scale stops moving for a period of time. The length of the stall varies from a few days to a few weeks and sometimes a few months. Non VSG’ers typically call it a plateau. Stalls are perfectly normal and to be expected. As we lose weight so dramatically, our bodies need time to catch up physically - this typically happens during a stall. While the scale may not be moving, you may notice an increase in compliments. This is because while the number on the scale isn’t getting any smaller, you are physically getting smaller. There are many tips and tricks for breaking a stall (increase your fluids and Protein, increase your activity, up your calories…) but the reality is it will break on its own.

After a weight loss stalls are necessary to reshape the body. You can't rush them. They are just as important as the numbers dropping on the scale. Accept them when they come and learn to glory in the changes they bring. Welcome them, don't panic.

I'm on a long preop too... not liquids, but high Protein 800 calories a day... I lost 25 pounds really fast.. then gained a little back.... then lost a couple of pounds and again for the past several weeks I've been stuck. It's been 7 weeks. I lost 25 pounds in the first two weeks. WOO HOO... in the next 5 weeks I only lost 3.. THREE... I know it's not my fault.. I know it has to break eventually.. I mean how long can a 300 pound body LIVE on 800 calories a day and not lose weight? (apparently longer more than 5 weeks) I guess this isn't helping you any, but know that you're not alone. Also, if you're doing several days of clears you should lose several pounds on that alone.... right?

I didn't weigh every day during my pre-op diet, but I think I might have stalled before I got to clears. Clears definitely got the scale moving again.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
