Wow

Are u kidding me? Who has time to read 8 pages worth of stuff not relevant to them! Be grateful alleygator that she took time to reply to you even if its not what u want to hear. And don't be rude regardless of how u feel. Shame on you!

Last I checked I was allowed to state my opinion. Pretty sure its in the constitution. And if I didn't have time to read a convo I wouldn't be posting on it, especially to chew someone out for crap that's already been hashed out more than once. Thanks for trying to be my mother, though.

I was irritable and cranky a few weeks out, too! When you post on a public forum, you have to take the "bad" with the good.

Wow, this is just too much, good lord grow up. If you don't want people's opinions don't post. Period.

Sorry to barge in but alley-gator did not start this bickering if you read entire threads. If you have not the time to read the threads I suggest you reframe from making judgements.

Peace and love to all of you.

Actually I do see the humor lol.

Maybe if we change the subject people can stop having knee jerk reactions to a thread that was posted as a rant when someone was having a bad day.

Mmmm....Greek food....

Love Greek food! Went to a Greek restaurant the other day and had half a quail and a fetta stuffed mushroom. It was so yum!

I've never heard of Greek food having quail! Of course, our Greek food is americanized lol not even real lamb. It's a mix of lamb & beef. I sure do love a good gyro with feta though!

Your not alone in "hating this" right now... im 15 days post op.. and today i had the JOY of sitting at buffalo wild wings and watching my family eat a huge lunch in front of me... i managed to do it without crying.. so i thought i got an A+. And no.. i didnt have an option other then sitting in the freezing cold car while they ate, we were on a family outting and i was stuck with it. Letting go of the desire to eat and the head cravings are really hard... this 2-3 week stage doenst help any either.. i feal fine.. im fighting with what i can and cant eat..the scale is stalling because im adding more calories back into my diet.... and i have NEVER done well with things i CANT have ... it has nothing to do with knowing what i was getting into or anything else.. i think its a normal part of the struggle for alot of us.

and before anyone says anything snarky to me... please remember that im POST op... emotional... fighting head hunger that is telling me i would LOVE large burger (weather i could eat it or not doesnt matter i still want it) hating nasty tasting protien whey... and probely PMS'ing.... and really just venting so Ally knows she isnt alone right now.... if you cant say anything helpfull... dont say anything at all. :D

I feel you! Being absent from some outings is okay on my life, but some I have to go to. They are filled with soda & food I loved post op. I might never think of those foods, but when they are in front of me I can't stop wanting them. It is so stinking hard!! But I am proud of you for sticking it out! Today we were at a basketball game, and even though I wanted greasy concession food & it smelled Yummy, I refrained. After I walked away, it wasn't as bad. My cravings have definitely gotten better since last week. We are close in sleeve dates, but I really feel like the week made a huge difference! Hang in there, we can do this!

I am waiting for the next week to be over... i even told myself im not going to step on the scale for a few days ( trying for a week but yeah.. that wont happen) if WE can push threw this we will be fine!

ps... today wasnt as hard as i thought it would be... even the waitress felt sorry for me.. but i walked out of it with a new drink... the sweet but very very verrrrrry thin waitress who felt sorry for me added a half of an orange to my iced tea.. OMG it was great!!!!! if your an iced tea person.. you gotta try it. she thought i might enjoy the fresh orange taste... and she was right!

Quail is really popular in Greece and in Greek recipes and just the right size for sleevers. Does anyone have a special recipe?

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
