it's hard to get Protein in. not because of drinking difficulty, because of taste!

Sleeved 12/17. I have struggled with the Protein since day one. The taste is horrible. The Isopure is so sour. The smell of the powder mixes gag me, and the New Whey shots are just as gross.

Sleeved 12/10 & in a HUGE STALL. Actually Gained 1 1/2 lbs. Tried walking a few laps at the gym even though dr said not to. ( he thought I would loose too fast) and of course I run into my doctor. Wanted to lift weights as my doctor wants me to, but one of my bosses was lifting weights and I'm on lifting restrictions at work, so I just went home : ( Not my week.

Hi, new at this. Got sleeved 12/28/12 - struggling with all these changes. While Protein drinks seemed fine pre sleeve now I can't stand them. My sense of smell has become real strong and my taste buds seem to be dead. What is going on? I can't drink all that I'm asked. What did I do????!

Casey my doc told me that in the first two weeks its more important to get my fluids in first and foremost and as much Protein as possible. This worked and after about a week and a half i could gett everything in and its been all good ever since. Good luck!

sleeved 12/28/12 Phase 1- CLEAR LIQUIDS: ugh! I'm concerned that I've been drinking my drinks (for the past 2 days) 'not see thru enough' and possibly have stretched my sleeve already lol .. no seriously, Im worried, I have been mixing powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury choc Protein powder and Water with a scoop of GNC Vitamin powder and Water in a shaker- in between broths. I can't handle the strong flavors of Isopure clears (I liked them b4 surgery) I actually feel good...great... no naseau, no problems. But are things going in and down too easy

I am also having a lot of mental feelings of wanting food tho Im not hungry..especially at night. I will say this, I found a book called "Shrink Yourself" that really addresses food addiction - but it's not the kind of thing you speed read thru.

Im on week four post op today and the Protein post is killing me. I'm at a stall not losing anything and I'm sure it is because I'm not getting enough Liquid Protein in although I don't eat anything hardly and only drink Water. Before surgery I had no problem with the shakes but there is not one I have found I can force down now... I've been at a stall for atleast a week now if not longer I'm getting a little discouraged but know this is part of the process

They told me that just because you can drink alot of fluids doesn't mean that you've stretched your sleeve. Its not until you start introducing solids that you will feel the restriction of your sleeves capacity

Ahh - you are in a tough phase right now! I know because I was there about 2 weeks ago. I added a little sugar free hot chocolate powder to my shakes and blended with ice - and they were much better! I actually look forward to having one each morning! So glad you are feeling good. Get ready for you scale to "be broken" for a few days when you hit week three. That was something I was not expecting - but it seems pretty common to stay the same or even gain a pound during the thrid week.

Good luck to you!

18 days out and doing great! I'm happier than I can remember being in a long time. I don't know if any of you had this prior to surgery - but I think my negative thoughts about my weight occurred several times an hour during the day. I no longer have those and it is an amazing feeling. The weight is comming off as I expected, the diet is not so bad, and I am even going to have to put my first piece of clothing in the goodwill sack tonight because it is just too big to wear anymore! Life is good!

I was sleeved on the 28th of December... I am feeling ok I have my ups and downs. I am trying to get as much Protein and Water as possible in . I thought i stretched my sleeve because my stomach has been hurting and i didnt feel any restrictions. I called the doctors office i was told i cant stretch the sleeve during the liquid diet(whew) I got dressed today and I feel better. I have weighed myself once since i came home. The last tyme i saw my pcp i weighed 220. the scale said 213 on Monday :D I know i have to stay the course because the best is yet to come. Best wishes to all thats on the new journey to a new you in 2013

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
