Dilaudid in the hospital thru the IV for me for the first day. After that they attempted to give me liquid lortab that I found so disgusting I wouldnt take it which cause my heart rate and blood pressure to go up a little because I was in pain so my surgeon told them to crush Norco for me and I was right as rain. I only needed the Norco in the mornings mostly and only for a few days. Less pain than I had imagined thats for sure. But thank goodness for my magic dilaudid button in the hospital :)

I had dilaudid in the hospital for my entire 2 day stay. I was sent home with percocet tablets but never needed them. I was not in pain - just sore when I would get up from sitting or lying down.

I was on a self activated morphine pump which I HATED!!!!! Gave me the worst of headaches, only lasted 8 minutes so every 8 minutes I was waking up uncomfortable, and the dumb pump was noisy! I didn't think it really did much for the pain. Just made me sleepy for 8 min. I finally said I did not want that anymore and they gave me toradol through my iv. That was my magic potion. That and benedryl. I itch like crazy from the anesthesia every time I've ever had it! I went home with Percocet tabs that I cut in half. I only took them for about 3 nights. And only at night soi could get a good rest. During the day I took an extra strength Tylenol cut in half. Didn't bother my belly but I did take it when I had a shake. Just remember that when you are in the hospital to speak up if a med is not working for you. There are many many they can try and you doc will typically have written orders for multiple rx in case u don't like one. My nurse said she never wanted me above a 3 on the pain scale when I was in bed or in the chair. Slows healing to be in pain.

I had a beautiful stay in the hospital high on Toradol and Demerol via IV. And I was sent home with liquid Demerol.

I can't take most pain meds, including Vicodin, Lortab, Percocet, Codeine, Oxycodone, and more. They all make me vomit, which is obviously an issue after abdominal surgery. I was ready to tough it out like I have after my other four abdominal surgeries when they offered me Demerol. Oh my goodness, that stuff is from the heavens!

I had iv pain medicine in the hospital and was sent home on Lortab, for the first few days it was gross but now I guess my brain knows that it takes away the pain so I can tolerate it VERY easily and I LOVE it. It's amazing, I like it better than any pain medicine I've ever been sent home on and will request it in the future.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
