Gettin' ready for Hubby's band

Hi Everyone!

My sweet hubby is scheduled for banding on Nov 6. There is so much good info here! I already saw the pre-surgery list and have taken my notes. I hope to be able to take good care of him. Any advice for the spouses?

This may sound a little silly, but buy yourself easy to prepare, and easy to eat foods as well. So if it bothers him, you eating in front of him, while he cannot eat, you can eat quickly and quietly in another room!!! Where it didn't bother me as a general rule, it made my SIL crazy!! And there was a day my DD decided to snack on Fritos in front of me, I wanted one so badly I made her leave!!!

Another thing I would suggest, (though I fought it big time!!!) is to take lots of before pics. Several angles, and in an area you can continue to take progress pictures. I did mine with the front door as a background...and take them all there, in the same poses. They are very inspirational. Measurements the same way. I kept a little notebook, and am so glad I did...I feel like I have come so far!!! I have lost 41"....so even when the weight loss slows down a little, I can SEE progress.

If I think of anything else I'll pop back in. I wish both of you good luck, a quick and smooth surgery and recovery!!!

Thanks Kat!

I was already planning on doing some progress pictures. That should be pretty fun. I am trying to prepare myself as well because we eat together as emotional eaters so I know that it is going to be hard for me too. I am hoping that his strict rules will help me to eat better too. He has a lot of weight to lose and so he hasn't been feeling very well for a long time. He is looking forward to enjoying life more and being able to do more things.

I think your idea of having some easy quick meals will be good. I have 3 kids here at home too so that may help not for them to eat in front of him.
