High protein-low carb powders?

Recommended Posts

My best friend the first year post op was the IDF brand sold by the retail chain smoothie King. I have tried them all, and it seemed to work the best for me. Its not the cheapest but has the best nutritional values.

Like I say, it worked for me. Fifteen months post op, lost 200 pounds and am at goal:scared:

unjury has some great options. They are available online and you can start with an assortment of single serving packets to try the flavors out. www.unjury.com. The unflavored is great to mix with crystal light or pudding.

Unjury - Absolutely my #1 pick, too. It's a well-crafted, tasty little Protein powder.

I tried more than a dozen different Proteins (literally!) and Unjury is my choice of them. Good flavours, mixes well, well tolerated...

And I love the little packets that you can purchase to try out the flavours.

The only other Protein I tolerate is nectar ( NECTAR™) by Syntrax. It comes in yummy flavors like Fuzzy Navel Peach and more.

I like GNC Amplified Wheybolic Protein 60. If you mix with skim milk you get 72 grams of protein in 12 oz.

Bariatric Eating has a line of Proteins called Inspire that is outstanding. You can't beat them for taste.

The one I stumbled on through the dietician at my Doctor's office is by Vitomatic and is the one Protein Powder I found I can stand the taste of and it mixes very well. It comes in 5 different flavors and all of them are pretty good and I think its low in carbs as well.

I absolutely love zero carb Isopure creamy vanilla and low carb Isopure dutch chocolate (1 net carb). These are available in most vitamin/health stores and online. Two scoop serving = 50 grams of Protein.

I generally start out with one scoop in the morning and then make another at night if my Protein is too low.

Another way to make these shakes even better is to add some davinci sugar-free, calorie free syrups. I like to mix in banana, cookie dough, Peanut Butter, caramel, etc. and it makes the shakes a really great treat and it doesn't feel like you are having the same thing day in and day out.

On a related note, I highly recommend the new Blender bottles that are out for shake making. They come with a little whisk ball that keeps things really mixed and it doesn't leak, which is nearly unheard of. A friend recommended it and I love it so much I have two.

I've been enjoying the 100% whey Protein from Optimum Nutrition. So far I've only tried the Vanilla Ice Cream flavor, but it's better than most other powders I've tried!

I mix it with a cup of Soy Slender soymilk in vanilla flavor and it's sweet and creamy. Combined they have 5 net carbs, 190 calories, 3g fat, and 30g Protein. I usually add my Benefiber to it too and serve it over ice! :)

I got it at GNC and they have a lot of other flavors. I think I'm going to give another one a go too when this container is done.

I use the EAS chocolate powder from Sam's Club and mix it with unsweetened almond milk. Total real carbs - 4. So many of these things will give you net carbs and than actual carbs. I'm one who has to count all carbs because it makes a difference between losing and not.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
