12/31 surgery date - 1st time in a long time that I am excited for NYE

Recommended Posts

My surgery is set for the 31st.. super pumped and ready to start 2013 with a bang

No real pre-op diet - have to do liquids and MagCit on Sunday.

Only concern... on my pre-op visit I had gained 4 lbs since October when my start weight was recorded at 264... I have to drop those but was pretty sure it was a combo of Water weight and Xmas parties. I was also fully dressed.

I am doing high Protein now and limited carbs and drinking my weight in water. Trying not to step on the scale every hour.

Between that and the MagCit, I believe that the loss should be doable.

Anyone foresee any issues with switching to all liquids early - Saturday and Sunday? I don't want any last minute surprises.

Also, any other 12/31 surgery dates?

I just started on FitnessPal too as Ursomajor3460.

My surgery date is also 12/31, congrats!!

What is MagCit?

Magnesium Citrate - it's a saline laxative for bowel prep... start it in just a little over 12 hours...

I think I might actually be getting a little nervous...

I'm packing some pj's so I won't be stuck in a hospital gown if I don't want to be. I'm bringing my pillow ( I work at the hospital and the pillows are flat!) :) toothpaste/brush and stuff to wash my face as well as some lotion. It's really dry here! And technology! Kindle and laptop :)

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
