5 months out Christmas is interesting

Recommended Posts

Keep nibbling and feel sick/full. Not enjoying all the food. Need to go back to regular meals. Look forward to getting back to normal. Far too many calories consumed in alcohol this past few weeks. Ugh. Lactose intolerant and no breads for me anymore. But 57 lbs down!

I'm also 5 months out, and over the weekend we went grocery shopping for family that came in for Christmas. I realized how much I hate food shopping! Espeicially having to figure out what meals to make for other people! It made me SOO irritated!

As far as food - I've been fine. I don't drinnk alcohol anymore, because I've found that even after a sip or 2 I start feeling it!!

Can't wait to get back to my regular meal and exercise schedule!! Down 70lbs!!

I feel the same, I don't know why food is such an important part of Christmas, I genuinely feel sick and want to get back to normal! 2 months post op, and I just don't get the same satisfaction from food as before! Weird!!!

Merry Christmas xxx

All day I kept thinking how next year will be when I'm 11 months out and hopefully at goal. I wonder how I'll handle it and if I will get grief because I'm not eating much. I am not sharing this surgery with extended family. Hopefully by that time I will have figured out how to handle those types of situations. Thinking of just saying I gave up sugar and carbs and that it's too if of a weakness for me.

I am 7.5 months out. I can't wait until tomorrow - I am going back on Lil Miss Diva's Boot Camp, which is a great way to eat for 5 days. I know it will get me back on track and feeling good! In the past I would have dreaded giving up "treats", now I can't wait to get Christmas out of the way. :)

Do you have a link to her boot camp?

I am about 5 months out. I have lost 45 pounds total. I feel great and I have not regretted having the surgery one bit. I cook for my husband all the time with no issues. I watch my Protein intake and still occasionally have one shake a day. I continue to follow my doctors orders regarding food intake and exercise. I do not want to go back to old habits. One reason for my having the surgery was to get control of my eating habits which it definitely has. I want to lose about 25 more pounds..I can see that happening within the next few months.

I just searched "lil miss divas boot camp" and the instructions were in the first response to the OP.

Yes! Ready to get back to normal! Too many slider foods in my house! Sent the last of the fudge out the door with my husband, going to clean out the fridge today and go back to my good eating of protein!! No more Christmas excuses for me! Glad to see I am not the only one who ate, drank and was marry this year!

Another reason to love my sleeve: I actually lost 2 pounds over the long Christmas weekend! And I ate whatever I wanted, just a lot less of it. I'm four months out and am just now adding a bit of carbs to my diet. I actually think that has kick started my loss. I stalled for over two weeks and once I upped the carb intake, it's been a steady loss. I hope everyone had a great holiday and stayed safe!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
