6month requirement. Gaining more than losing.

This is slightly off topic but did any of your surgeons ask you to lose weight prior to surgery? Carewise (supervised diet) asked me to lose 15 lbs and so did my surgeon. I only managed to lose 3 but Carewise still approved me. I am terrified that since I have not lost the whole 15 lbs he is going to make me wait to have surgery until I do. I go for pre testing Monday, see the surgeon Wednesday and have surgery on the 21st.

I have never heard anything about this. I just know you have to make 2 weeks of liquid' date=' Protein diet.[/quote']

My surgeon does not require that, just Clear liquids the day before.

If you start drinking Protein shakes now by the time you go to your appointment on the 21st.you could lose 12lbs.

That is what I am going to have to do. I wonder if he will weight me Wednesday or just the morning of surgery.

I don 't know. Did you plan on doing a food farewell, like some people do?

I wonder why some docs make patients do a 2 week liquid and some don't? They say it is suppose to shrink your liver so that they can move it easier to perform the surgery.

I have wondered that myself. He wants me to lose 15 lbs to make the surgery easier. He layed me flat and mashed on my belly and said ok, I want you to lose 15 lbs. others, he said not to gain any. Just depends.

No food farewell for me. I was already doing one shake a day an eating very strict anyway so no big shock for me.

They say the more you loose before surgery with the liquid diet is better that wont hurt that much & to shrink your liver. I have several friends & family that had done this surgery & bypass.

I too am on a six-month program and I'm almost ending my six months and have gained 6 pounds and it's not due to the fact of me overeating it's due to me under eating since I'm watching the consumption of food my nurse said they should not be an issue as they are just looking for a lifestyle/food change

I need to lose at least 3 to 4 pounds this month it's hard but I have to do it in order to prove that I'm doing my diet. I can wait two more months to finish 6 month program. Getting very nervous but at the same time exciting I hope my insurance covers my surgery.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
