Who else is waiting on approval?

Hello guys, hope you're having a fantastic week. If some of you are in my exact situation "waiting for insurance approval" lets find comfort in each other and share our story... My paper were submitted to Cigna last Wednesday 12/12/12 and yesterday the surgeons coordinator called to request a Diet History that the insurance company is asking for... I think is a good sign ... What do you think??

Got my approval. I have Aetna, it took 9 business days. However, I'm disappointed that the first available date is March 4th. They did say if someone cancels with enough time for me to do the 2week preop diet they would call and move my date up. I guess 5.5 weeks is that long, but patience isn't my strong suit.

I hope Aetna approves you soon. Just a word of advice for everyone waiting on insurance...call them every few days. I did and I got my approval on my 3rd call. 6 days it took them to approve. Maybe it will work for you too. It cant hurt!!

Well found today I'm #14 on the wait list...looking like Feb/March date....fingers crossed and praying. I was told if anyone cancels they would move me up...

Dont get discouraged I was denied 9 times' date=' had my surgery monday but it took me 4 years to get approved[/quote']

Why dud you keep getting denied?

What do you say to them? Every time I call, they just tell me it's still in review. :(

@Dreamsofskinny....girl I had to absolutely lose it! I was pretty much told it could be up to 2 months before i heard anything. This included the internal review @ up to 2 weeks, bariatric coordinator at 1 week and up to 30 days for the ins company. I escalated my case to the office mgr bc that time frame is ridiculous. She said she would give me an update tomorrow. We shall see!

Firelle when they tell you its still in review ask them how long their review takes. Be confident on the phone even if you are not sure of yourself. Also ask them where in the review process it is. If its with a case mgr then you know they are truely working on it. Be proactive ask them if they need any further documents be an advocate for yourself. Good luck!!!

I'm also waiting for my insurance to approve me. The surgical coordinator was suppose to send my paperwork to the insurance on jan 14 . I called my insurance today and they told me they have not received anything from my surgeon . I have been super nervous for the past two weeks , just waiting for the approval . I'm so disappointed with my surgeon, i just cant my believe my paperwork is just sitting on the coordinators desk . I thought this week , I was going to have an answer from my insurance . Im so anxious to get the approval and surgery date !!!!!!! I'm super worried that Oxford Denys me !!!!!

Hi Marie, you are not alone. Most of us have been disappointed with this part of the process. We will continue to push and support each other. Im just imagining myself on the losers bench! Wow, those 40 pds just came off so fast!!! lmao

Thanks beautyand beyond for the support .. I'm really praying that I can have surgery in feb . The surgeon told me that I can have surgery middle of feb . I'm just getting really nervous bc feb is already the corner and my paperwork has not been submitted ... My husband tells me not to call the surgeon too much but I just get too anxious, so I end up calling almost every other day lol

Been through that too Marie, I was given the impression I could be in surgery before Christmas and here it is the end of Jan and I have not yet been approved however it could still happen for you. Don't stop calling! Just ask Dreamsofskinny, she called like clock work and I believe it was her persistence that got her where she is now!

You are your best advocate...keep calling!

Lol! Yes. Call and keep pushing. I was denied 3 times based on information that was not specifically in my summary plan description. I kept pushing for where the language came from- called my employer, insurance, advocate, and did tons of research online.

Good luck everyone. Just know exactly what your plans criteria is you have to meet to qualify for surgery and submit that information only.

My file has finally been passed onto insurance!!! Thank you Lord. Hopefully they won't take too long approving. I have UHC and from a lot of threads it appears they respond quickly. We shall see!

Beautifulandbeyond , I called the surgeon office and the coordinator finally submitted my paperwork today . I also have UHC and heard within two days they make a decision . Good luck to you , hopefully we both get approved by Tuesday !!
