Dr. Umbach - Las Vegas

Recommended Posts

I was just sleeved on March 4 and I'm feeling great! Dr. Umbach is phenomenal (so far ). My surgery lasted about 30 minutes and I was up and walking around about an hour later. My recovery at home was good, I was at the mall shopping four days later. One week post-op I have lost 16lbs. I'm super excited for my journey and hope to get to meet you ladies as well.

I live in Las Vegas and I would have went to Dr. Umbach if he wasn't so expensive. I have no doubt he is the best - I have done a lot of research and Dr. Umbach is amazing. Selected as one of Las Vegas' best doctors and I believe US News also printed an article about him.

Dr. Umbach did (not sure if he still does) perform surgeries in Mexicali.

I selected Dr. Cabrera at Mi Doctor Hospital in Tijuana because of price and experience. I feel 100% confident that everything will be great during surgery and my recovery will also be good.

Best wishes to us all!

Compared to where i live, Dr. Umbach is not expensive at all! The only place cheaper I found was Mexico but I would prefer to stay stateside. I am thinkful to hear from those who have gone to Dr. Umbach. It is a little scary traveling so far for this to someone you have neer met... But i have researched him too and feel confident in him. I am so excited for ALL of us!!

My surgery was done in December 2013 by Dr. Umbach. He was recommended to me by a work colleague who had RNY with him. I am so grateful to have found him. He and his staff were wonderful and considering I was a self-pay patient, it was the best money I could have ever spent on myself. So nice to hear everyone who has posted had just as great an experience as I did.

I just had my two week post op with Dr.Umbach and everything went great. What I thought was odd was that I was expecting him to clear me on puréed foods but instead, said I could eat normal food! What?!! I'm not complaining, just thought it was weird. He said " you could eat puréed foods if you want but Normal food is ok to eat." Uh duh I want normal food! Lol! I also lost 21lbs since surgery which was two weeks ago. :D

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
