YAY to everyone and their surgeries!! I hope everyone is doing great!!! I am having surgery April 8th at JourneyLite with of course Dr. Curry. I am excited and scared in one. I'm also worried my mom is going to have a major break down before this is over due to worrying about me. Iol.

I just had my NUT class etc etc. Yesterday and got my food for my 4 week diet. I'm shocked at what I can eat. How much did you girls lose on your pre-opt diet? I have to lose 20 pounds before the 8th. I hope I can do it.

So what made everyone choose the surgeon they did? How did you find out about him or her?

I first heard of Dr. Curry after my cousin had WLS. She really talked highly of him. So when I decided to have surgery I of course checked him out, and did my research. I did look at other surgeons in the Dayton area. I just didn't feel as comfortable with anyone else.

I am also self pay and honestly thought that I would walk in the office and they would just give me a date and start on all my pre-opt testing etc. Boy was I wrong.. I had to lose weight and lower my BMI. First. I am very thankful for that now.

I researched and heard good things about my doc....so that's the reason I picked him. I've heard great things about Dr. Curry, too! My insurance wouldn't cover treatment at journey lite....so I couldn't go to him.

I just had my sleeve done a week ago with Dr Curry. Sounds like you all are pros about this and hopefully will help me! I live NW of Cincinnati in Ross Township. The hardest part about all of this is the mind is wanting but the body isn't. I see commercials on tv and my own family eating and its really hard. Tomorrow is my first one week after appointment with Dr. Curry and I am ready! I have to admit, I have chewed and spit this week just to get through it. Clear liquids is hard, but just being on this webpage has helped me realize why I am doing all this!

Thanks for the local support!

Sheila

Hello sheila. Aww. It gets better everyday. I really didn't have the head hunger. I had to make myself eat. Maybe some of the other ladies can help you with the head hunger stuff. Good luck

How are you feeling? How was the pain afterward did you have a lot of gas pains? I have surgery on April 8th (21 days)!!! Aside from the fear of not waking up, the gas pain, and pain in general freaks me out! How was your recovery?

I'm starting to think I am the only one who doesn't have an appointment with Dr. Curry sometime this week. I don't think I'll see him again until my surgery day. lol.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
