So Disappointed In Myself :(

Recommended Posts

I am six weeks out of surgery. My stats are 5'3" and current weight 211. Since I went off the pre-surgery liquid diet I have never eaten more than 600 calories. I am taking my Vitamins, drinking Water, getting all my Protein in and working out on my elliptical every second day. I initially lost 6 pounds on the pre-surgery diet, and have only lost 11 pounds since. I am so disappointed. As of this week I have gained 2 pounds, so now at 213. I have hypothyroid and PCOS. Is anyone else losing this slowly? So sad.

Don't be too hard on yourself. Your body is adjusting. There is no way you are gaining on 600 calories a day. Your body is probably retaining Water while it figures out what you have done to it! ;0). Sounds like you've hit that dreaded and unavoidable stall. Keep up with your plan ... The pounds WILL fall off. I promise!

I weight about every three weeks, body weight can fluctuate day to day for so many reasons. I put the scale in my closet and I just know I am loosing cause we eat so little and clothes are how I track it. I find something too tight in my closet and then I try it on every week til it fits.

I also hear our bodies get use to the exercise we are doing so we have to switch it up. Do you like Water aerobics, I LOVE IT and we all do it at our own pace.

If my scale says something sucky I can be in a bad mood most of the day, that's why I have to stay off it.

I think I need to put the scale away. It's just that you hear of so many big losses right away, and then the weight loss slows down. Thank you for your replies :)

Dont be dissapointed in yourself you are doing so well...the pcos and hypo may slow things down but they arent going to keep you from losing. Stay positive girl...youll get there!

Measure yourself as you will find that when the scales are not going down the inches are! Also try not to compare yourself to others who are posting, this is your journey - take ownership of it.

Step away from the scale! It is not our daily friend. My scale says I am in a stall, but my clothes feel looser every day, so I know something is going right. Like PP said, measure yourself and look for the non-scale changes.

As for the big losses, I find that the really big losses were either people with lots to lose or guys. People with less to lose will lose it slower and guys lose weight faster anyway. Well, that's what I choose to think anyway.

I am in the same boat. Sleeved Nov6th. I had lost 50lbs preop, but have only lost 16 Postop . I think my body is adjusting to my changed metabolism. I find it hard to get all my fluids in! I do better with hot Fluid than anything else. But it's still a struggle!!

Only lost 16lbs since surgery? It's 3 1/2 weeks! That's 5+lbs a week! When was the last time you lost 5lbs a week? I was sleeved Nov 7th and I am so excited I've lost 13lbs since!

I also find that hot tea goes down much better than anything else so I am drinking 60+oz of that (decaf) per day!

I am 7 weeks out with PCOS down 42 lbs But I went through a 4 week stall and wasn't doing nothing but gaining and lose a 1 lb here and there I had to lower my carb intake 30g was too much for me at the time and I wasn't getting in my Protein like I should have. So now I'm eating a lot of chicken and fish and just green vegetables, cottage cheese and the weight is coming off fast! I do not use sugar at all! Good luck to u!! :)

I'm a slow loser also but I'm losing a hell of a lot of inches. I keep track of my cycles and I've noticed that I usually stall after I ovulate and my weight stays the same until I start my period. Once my period starts the weight starts to come off again. I'm pretty sure that it will take me probably a year to reach goal and I don't want to do anything drastic that I can't maintain when it comes to eating. I weigh everyday but I'm getting used to the weight swings.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
