The pain was bearable. More then I thought it would be. You get good meds and that helps.Today I am just sore, no pain. The hardest part is rising. I turned on my side and grabbed something.

Omg so true! Meanwhile the JP drain gets more and more uncomfortable!

I just had my gall bladder out in January and had to have that stupid drain for 4 days. In one way it's good because now I know what to expect but also know how quick and great the relief/comfort is once its out. But I'm still hoping I'll only need the drain for a day or two when I get sleeved next week. :)

Hi guys! I promise every day it continues to improve. I was sleeved 2/7/2013 and am finally feeling almost normal again. I just reached my first goal- Onderland!!! And tomorrow is my BDay :-) so excited! HW: 236, consultation: 229, preop: 222, SD: 212. I will advise to watch your BM closely and talk to your doc if you're not having good BM regularly. I though I was all good, but my first trip to the gym went bad when it hit me like a ton of bricks! Sorry, TMI

Ok folks I'm getting down to crunch time. Surgery is Monday at 10am, I officially start my liquid diet today (my surgeon rocks, liquids only 2 days out) but I have been slowly working my way towards liquids only. He isn't requiring I take magnesium citrate, but I am going to anyways, later today. Not really scared just nervous excited. Oh and my birthday is tomorrow, I think I got myself the best present ever.

Ok....maybe i am tripping but Im 4days out from surgery and have gained a pound!!! I am.following this clear liquid diet and walking. What am I doing wrong?

You are doing nothing wrong. You are pumped full of liquids at the hospital..those take time to work their way out. It is perfectly normal to gain weight after the surgery which is why my doctor said hide the scale. I haven't weighed myself and I am 4 days post op but I know I am still puffy from my rings not fitting right. Hang in there!!!

Hello everyone! I had my surgery on 2/15/13. So far so good except for the gas pain that is trapped. I'm also sore too! But I am at home! At first I wondered what did I get myself into? But I had to remember that I am trying to get healthy! Good Luck everyone!

Update-- Sleeved on feb 11. Went home next day. Today walked a mile. Have only lost 5 lbs' date=' a bit disappointing but I will take it. Feels weird when I eat. I actually feel hungry, eat small amount, feel so full and then hungry again. Not sure what that is about.

A few tips

bring a heating pad and your own pillow to hospital. get out of bed as soon as you can.

best protien powder--twin labs. I have tons of others(If you want let me know) That was the best pre-op and still is.

Found Isopure juice flavor today. it is tolerable and has 40 grams of protien. On sale at Vitamin world this week. Also try to get mini supplement if you can. So many Vitamins you have to take and the smaller the better.

Not as bad as I thought and happy I did it. Let me know if you have questions[/quote']

Thats a pretty decent walk Sue! I was sleeved 2/12 and wouldnt dare go for a walk. Do you have a drain?

Thanks, I was so surprised. thought I would be laying on the couch. IDK, my head is clearer and I have energy. Waiting for my blood sugar to go down. I was hoping I didnt overdo but I seem ok. No drain.

Hows your food? Inbox me, maybe we can be buddies.....

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
