:nervousHi,

I am having lapband surgery on Nov. 16. Meeting with dietician on Nov. 2.

I am from the Odessa area, just north of Tampa, Fl. I'm scared silly and need encourage! Has anyone had surgery done by Dr. W. Aguila? Do you starve before and after surgery? I cook Sunday dinner every week for my family, How do you handle that? Do you feel deprived all the time?

help,

jan

I've never starved since surgery. I do have head hunger sometimes but it's much better. After your surgery and you get a good fill you will not obsess about food at all. I had mine done in Mexico so I'm not familiar with your surgeon, sorry. As far as cooking on Sundays, I do that as well, for my family and new granddaughter and you can still taste a little of everything but you just won't be able to hold much. It's enjoyable because food is just not what it use to be. Good luck, keep us informed.

Thanks for the quick reply. I'm really nervous, but I know I need to do this. I have many health problems which are worsening because of my wt. I have a 4 mt old grandson and I love to play and care for him. I don't want to lose any time w/my family.

Do you live in the Tampa area? It sounds like you are doing great!

talk to you soon,

jan

I have not used Dr Aguila....I had surgery in Dalton, GA as I lived up that way when I had surgery by Dr. Ponce (he's wonderful) and now I follow up with Dr Grossbard in Zephyrhills....he's great too! :tsk:

My only liquid fast was one day before surgery...then for 3 weeks after. I did not have true stomach hunger too often. You will feel somewhat deprived in the liquid phase and it really is mental!!! You will be "full" MUCH faster with less food/liquid.

I eat about 1/2 cup of food per meal. It is MORE than enough most meals. If I am still hungry then I will eat another bite or so....but that's all and most of the time I don't have to have the extra bite...it's my head and I have to make sure....so instead of asking myself if I am full....I ask "Am I still hungry?" This was a whole new way of thinking for me personally.

Big meals become a time of socializing and not about the food...I eat less and talk more!! Lookout family!!! :D

God Bless,

Melody

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
