Think I'm the only person on here that doesn't hate it so early post op. In fact, it's the only thing I can drink right now that doesn't taste unbearable. Tomorrow I'll try a Protein Shake but I've tried Gatorade, mio, crystal light, you name it I've tried it and diluted it and it's still too sweet. Am I alone in my tolerance for plain Water?

I was like that pre-op. All I would drink was Water or tea. For some reason though, post op, I can't handle it anymore.

I don't like it sweet either. I really miss lemon sparkling Water. Initially I was able to drink plain water post op but it gradually became very hard (stuck in my throat), so I was drinking Vitamin water -the dragonfruit flavor. Didn't care for the other flavors. The texture seemed easier to swallow. But I had to go to ER yesterday for both a kidney stone and a UTI and the urine results came back that I am very dehydrated, which caused part of this. I heard, not sure if it's true, that too much animal Protein can also cause kidney stones. Since I'm still on pain meds until I pass this stone, I am drinking plain water but it's still hard. :(

That is so interesting. I can't imagine the idea of water feeling like its stuck in your throat. I'm pre-op and clueless.

I love plain water!!! I'm 2 weeks post op and I'm so thirsty it's crazy I wish I could have more Water at a time. My dr has me drinking max 2 ounces(I actually drink closer to 3) and then wait half an hour bur my mouth is soooo dry I just wanna drink water all the time...

I am the opposite; pre op at this time but dreading trying to drink as I have always been of opinion "water is to take showers in"!! Water has always made me feel bloated and kind of nauseous. Off my Dr. Pepper now, and the only drink I can stand is either iced tea (thank goodness I don't mind the caffiene free and like it plain) or Peach Mango Green Tea Crystal Light! Fluids are going to be my challenge as well as not being able to stand Protein Drinks so far!

I used to detest water! So much so that I'd nearly vomit if I had to drink it. Once I forced myself to drink nothing else pre-op, no issues whatsoever- with one exception and that's first thing on the morning. I can't tolerate plain Water upon rising without extreme nausea and vomiting since my surgery, so I drink diluted Light/Diet juice.< /p>

I LIVED on plain water, iced tea, and the exact same peach mango green tea pre op! I almost cried when I gagged trying to choke down even diluted peach mango green tea :( it was sooooo sweet. All the Protein powders I tried pre op were almost too sweet then, I can only imagine how they'll be now. I hear good things about Dyntrax Nectars and About Time shakes. Good luck!

I am 5 months and am getting better with plain Water. I could not stand it for several months post op. Now I add crystal light, mio or Propel to all my water to make it easier to drink. Remember we need to be drinking water all the time. Out of all the products, I would say Propel is my favorite because it has the least amount of artificial taste and not too sweet.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
