January 2013 Sleevers?

Recommended Posts

So did you increase your calories then drop back down when you started losing again?? I'm so frustrated!

No I still eat 1000-1200 and continue to lose.

unjury has started to do the same thing to me. I don't understand it because I tolerated it fine before surgery. I am 21 days out and it has been really hard to find a Protein that I tolerate well.

I have it at lunch time because i still enjoy the warmth and non-sweetness of it, but yes, if i have it in the evening, it does not set that well.

Straws let in air when you use them. My Dr told me no more straws period.

Yep, that's what my Dr told me.

I had my first bad episode on valentines night. Made a big dinner for me and my hubby. Lobster tails, stuffed salmon, rib eye steak for him, baked potatoes and steamed spinach. I took one bite of lobster and it didn't sit well with my sleeve. Instant pain in my chest that just wouldn't go away. I ended up going upstairs and throwing up. I was a mess. I'm so surprised because absolutely nothing has bothered me so far. I was 5 weeks and 1 day and had been eating solids for a couple of weeks. So much for celebrating my 30th anniversary. Boy am I glad we decided to stay in this year because that would have been embarrassing in a restaurant. I guess the moral of the story is, even if you think your sleeve can handle anything, proceed with caution!

Yikes! Good to know.

(BTW - you prepared an amazing dinner. Sorry you couldn't enjoy it. Happy Anniversary!)

Last night I had my first NSV (non scale victory). I went to see the play Les Mis in downtown Charlotte and I always dread the small seats in the theater. Last night was the first time I have felt comfortable in the seat and did not feel like I was taking someone's space. I am almost 6 weeks out and last week hit my first stall. Only lost like 2 lbs all week but I continue to lose inches. I have not thrown up one time and I am tolerating most food well. I usually have two Premier Protein shakes a day and a real food dinner. In between I try to eat a string cheese stick. No problem drinking all the required Water. I consider myself lucky to be doing as well as I am and have lost close to 30 lbs since surgery. I think my biggest help has been hitting the gym and doing the elliptacle for about 60 minutes at least 5 times a week. Someone told me to rename my bathroom from the John to the Jim so I can tell everyone I go to the Jim everyday. Hope all my fellow January sleevers are doing well.

I have extremely dry skin, I have never had it all over even my arms starting to wonder what could be causing it...

Usually it's a hydration issue. My skin has been dry, too, so I've been more diligent and liberal with moisturizing all over.

I'm at 600 calories and meeting my Proteins and Water intake which I haven't lost any weight over a week?

If you cut the calories down too much, the body goes into starvation mode and slows your metabolism. It sounds counter-intuitive but you need to up your calories if you want to kick off the weight loss.

I hear you. I still don't really get hungry so I have to remind myself to eat or the day will have flown by and around dinnertime I realize I haven't had anything since Breakfast.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
