Anyone Been Denied By Surgeon B/c Of Hernia?

I am in the very early process of this and my consultant said she wasn't sure if doctor would do it since I had a hernia repaired 2 years ago above belly button. Anyone experience this?

Alot of drs will repair hernias during the surgery so i dont see y... i wouldnt stress until u talk to the actual surgeon ... good luck!

That sounds weird. I had a hernia repair during my surgery. I had no idea I had a hernia at all, but when I woke up in the recovery room and they told me they had fixed a hernia while they were in there. I just thought, "Surgery bonus!"

I'd press the issue a little more and see if you can get more info. I don't see why a hernia would prevent you from being sleeved.

Thanks y'all! The consultant said she was "new", so maybe that explains some of it. She said she thought there might be a problem if I had a hernia repaired with mesh and asked if it was above or below the belly button. I told her above and asked her why. She said she thought there might be a problem if it was above the bb or below the bb...she couldn't remember?!

I have 2 incisions above my belly button from VGS. One is the largest where they removed the stomach. They may have to work around any mesh that is in there from the repair, but I would be surprised if it meant you couldn't have surgery at all.
