  1. I don't know any other place to find this out. I am a 1 1/2 out from surgery, but I can't post.

Why can't I start a thread in the "veteran's" forum?

Oh Lord, I will never make that then!
  3. I know everyone is different, but just curious where all of the June sleevers are at in regards to their weight loss. How much have you lost so far, what was your starting weight, and how many calories are you eating each day? My starting weight was 251 before preop diet, 241 day of surgery. Today I am 202 but seem to be stuck. I am 2 1/2 months out. Just curious about everyone else.

    biotin

If you take this, How much do you take? I've been taking it since before my surgery (8 months) and take 10,000 mcg, however I read a post the other day and they were taking two 10,000 mcg per day. Just curious.

    biotin

I have always had really thick hair. I started taking biotin a couple of months before surgery, but I'm still losing a bunch of hair. I'm not going to say that the biotin hasn't helped because if I didn't take it then I could me losing a lot more. I am about 9 months out and I started losing hair around 3 or 4 months out and am still losing it...however, I have a TON of new hair growth. So much so that it is uncontrollable because it is sticking up everywhere. I guess that's a good sign though. I currently take 10,000 mcg daily, but thinking about upping it to 10,000 twice a day.

    loratab

This is fine to take, right? I had gallbladder surgery and need to know. I know we aren't supposed to take Motrin, right?

I didn't have to take pain medicine but for a couple days after surgery. I have a very rare disease that's caused me to have multiple surgeries, so I have a high threshold for pain. I know everyone is different, but hopefully you won't have to take prescription pain meds for too long.

Thanks everyone! I figured it was o.k. I had my wls 8 mths ago and thought that's what my doctor prescribed me then, but couldn't remember. Thanks!
  9. I have a few questions for all the June sleevers: 1. What all are you eating now? 2. How many calories are you eating? 3. Are you still drinking Protein shakes? 4. What are your stats right now? I know everyone is different, but just curious where everyone is on their journey! 5. Any other info you want to share.

    Question for all June sleevers

I have a few questions for all the June sleevers: 1. What all are you eating now? 2. How many calories are you eating? 3. Are you still drinking Protein shakes? 4. What are your stats right now? I know everyone is different, but just curious where everyone is on their journey! 5. Any other info you want to share.
  11. Hi everyone! I'm 2 1/2 weeks out and I've got a few questions... 1. I have had it with my Protein shakes. I have tried different kinds and have a hard time drinking anything other than Water. Is there anyone that doesn't get a lot of protein in and what are the effects of not getting enough every day? 2. I have just been put on a soft diet and I am supposed to be eating 4 tsps. per meal. What is everyone elses experience with this. I know some of you are still on pureed at this point, but those of you that aren't, how much can you eat? Please help! Thanks!!
  12. The reason I'm asking is because I will be 3 weeks post op tomorrow and absolutely CANNOT take protein shakes anymore. I am on soft foods and that is basically the only protein I have been getting in the last week or so. I try to eat fish or chicken of some sort each meal, so I am getting protein from my food. I know protein will help me not lose muscle, etc., but does it actually HELP you lose weight? In other words, if I continue with just getting protein through my foods wil it slow my weight loss down? I get my fluids (water) in each day. Please advise.
  13. I'm having the same problem! Is this the actual name of the potein shots at Wal-Mart?

    Tending to children post-op

Hi, I'm two weeks post op and have a 3 year old. Like you, I have a huge support system and it really hasn't been that big of a deal for me. She crawls in my lap...I just can't pick her up. I was told to not lift anything over 10 lbs., but if your doctor gave you the o.k. for 20 then you shouldn't have a problem with your 6 month old. Like the other post mentioned, be mindful because I started feeling normal around 4 or 5 days out and I would tend to forget. Good luck!
  15. I am a school teacher as well, however my insurance is through my husband. My coordinator never could tell me how she be able to submit it. All she would say is she wouldn't know until time to submit, so I called my insurance company and they told be the type of procedure that I was having could be submitted online. What surgeon/hospital are you using? I used UAB Birmingham. You can either call you cooridinator and find out how she submitted or call your insurance company to see how it was submitted.
  16. I am from Alabama and my coordinator explained it like this. BCBS of AL will except submissions by either fax or online, depending on your plan. She said if it was faxed, a week or so and if it was online, it would be an immediate reply. Fortunately, mine was online and I stayed on the phone while she submitted and got the approval.
  17. I am 9 days post-op and have done really well. The first 2 or 3 days after surgery, I didn't feel great, but the last week I pretty much feel normal (except for eating, of course). I have been out shopping for my daughter's birthday party the last few days and feel great. However, today I am so weak and light headed. I ate my usual breakfast, have already had 40 grams of protein and taken my vitamins. I drink water constantly so I know I'm not dehydrated. What could be causing the weakness and lightheadedness?
  18. I am like Nellabella, except I had my surgery at UAB in Birmingham, Al. I was on clear liquids the day after surgery (chicken broth, etc.) and the next day I started pureed foods. This includes eggs strangely enough. I can only have 4 tsps. at a sitting, so usually for breakfast I have 2 tsps of scambled eggs and 2 tsps of grits w/ cheese. I understand about following your doctors guidelines, but don't think it would hurt to start this 2 days early. If I can start it 2 days after surgery, you should have no problem 12 days post op. Good luck!
  19. This sounds exactly like my post a couple of days ago. We had the same surgery date, June 18. My worst days were days 1 and 2. I have felt a lot better today, but I still get tired a lot and usually take a long nap every afternoon. I'm ready to be over that stage bc napping makes me feel icky the rest of the day. My doctor has me on pureed foods since coming home and eating 4 teaspoons. My hardest part is taking my Vitamins. I will get easier each day! P.S. My rumbling stomach seems to be getting better each a day also.
  20. I had my surgery on Tuesday, June 18 and was released from the hospital yesterday. I still feel like complete crap! I have read so many posts on here where people were feeling good or normal just a couple of days post op. I know I've read about the stomach rumbles after surgery, but mine are horrific...it rumbles and growls like I am starving, but really do not feel hungry. Did anyone else experience this and how long did it last? I also feel pressure right in the center between my rib cage and this makes it difficult to lie on my back. I have had two crying spells since my surgery b/c I have been through so many surgeries (from another disorder I have) and thought this would be a lot easier to deal with. Not to mention, I take Zoloft and haven't taken it in two days. I tried crushing it last night (pharamacist recommended doing this) and I swear some chemical or something in it burned my tongue and mouth. I feel like I'm losing it! I'm trying to not use my pain meds much, but I am still so tired and sleepy. I need some reassurance from those that have experienced some of these things...PLEASE!
  21. My surgeon told me to get all of my meds in chewable or liquid forms b/c I shouldn't swallow pills. I have had no problems with my vitimans in chewable or liquid, but I take Zoloft 200 mg. (two 100 mg tablets per day). The pharamisist told me that these could be crushed so that is what I did and it was HORRIFIC! It felt as if it burned my lips, tongue, and rood of my mouth. This feeling went on for hours. I have since tried mixing them with food and it does the same thing. I checked to see if it comes in liquid and it does, however my insurance will not pay anything on liquid medication and it would be 200.00 a month. My question is this...did anyone's surgeon give them the o.k. to take pills after surgery? My zoloft is a little smaller than a tic-tac. Any info would be appreciated!
  22. Thanks everyone I already feel better reading your posts! I know that it will pass, just needed the reassurance! Wish everyone the best!
