Low Bmi'ers...how Long To Goal?

Recommended Posts

I was 193.5 on surgery day, 8/31. Today I'm 152. Last month I lost 10#. I don't mind losing slower, I'm hoping it will help me not have too much loose skin. Hope! Hope!

I started at 190lbs before my 3/7 surgery. I believe I averaged roughly 2lbs a week. I'm sure my weightloss would've been quicker/better had I stuck with a stricter diet. I am happy with the slow loss as I am now 9 months post op and down to 138lbs.

Well, I had 80lbs to lose, so a little more than you. It took me 18 months to reach my goal. I was a slow loser. But I reached my goal, actually dropped below by a few pounds, and having been maintaining for the last 6 months without issues.

I haven't posted in a while but I was a low bmi'er..sort of. My bmi was around 39..and I technically only had about 90 pounds to lose. I am now almost 9 months out. I am sitting right at about 185 so that is about 75 pounds gone. I lost fairly quickly in the beginning but it has def slowed WAY down but I am just about at goal and the weight my body feels comfortable at. I should also say that I do not watch what I eat...I just focus on Protein first and variety and I do well, but I am pretty sure if I went back to a very low carb diet I would lose the rest..I am just happy where I am *shrug

This thread is nice as it puts my loss into perspective. I keep having rather long stalls, then drop a big amount overnight. The stalls seem to coincide with when I started drinking wine LOL So I was going to do something drastic and quit drinking wine :P but given that my average loss is about 3lbs a week...maybe I don't need to go on the wagon heh heh

Well no need to quit the wine, IMO. That's great. I'm losing less than that without alcohol. :( I just need to cut out the junk.

I'm the same. I feel like my body likes being here. But if I cut out the crap and go back to basics, I'll be able to lose the last 20. My carb monster is alive. :(

LOL mine is too..but I am happy. That is all that matters, right? (or at least in MY mind). I have the comforting thought that I will want to try to lose that last bit and go for it..but my motivation just isn't there. As long as I am not gaining I am going to wait until I am ready.

This is a great thread! I'm scheduled for 12/17. 5'1 3/4" and started at 192, down to 178, and eager for my surgery date. Nice to see other low BMI patients with such great success! Inspiring.

My surgery weight was 208 and I'm 5'2". I lost about 13 lbs the first 2 weeks then stalled for 3. Since then I have lost a steady 6 lbs per month with the exception of 1 month when I lost 9. I had surgery May 24. I am at 153. I don't think I'm going to lose my normal 6 lbs this month because of all of the holiday eating. I haven't gained so I'm happy about that. I'm not going crazy here between Thanksgiving and New Years but I'm not depriving myself. It's kinda like sensible cheating :) After the holidays I will buckle back down and lose the last 20-30 lbs. I am expecting it to take me until April. This thread has been great to see. It's comforting to know I am chugging along like everyone else and doing just fine. Good luck everyone!

I was a low BMIer....started at 201, surgery on 8/2/12 and as of this AM I am 156....pretty pleased with my progress; have 16 more pounds to goal and I CAN ACTUALLY SEE THE FINISH LINE! I run about 25-30 miles a week, eat 90% healthy, no sweets, but have the occasional burger & fries, but only after a crazy long run. This was the best decision of my life!

I am 5' 4. I suffer from dumping syndrome so sugar is not part of my diet what so ever!! Otherwise I eat pretty much what I want, but crave veggies, fruits and Protein and will still have carbs since I run. I finally am not constrained by a certain food/diet.....I'M FREE!!!!

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
