Hey everyone...

Okay so I'm getting nervous now... My surgery is 10 days away and I start my Pre op diet in 2 days... Can all the veterans or people on their Pre Op diet give me some tips, and also brands or ideas of Protein Shakes or broths they made. Thanks I appreciate it :)

I have 4 days left on mine and I won't lie to you, it's not a fun experience. My advice is to stay busy and just take it as the final challenge before the surgery. It's late in the 4th quarter and you need to dig deep and find that little extra to get through no matter how much it hurts and how bad you feel. It will all be worth it in the end.

Mine was 14 days long and I got through it easily, here's what I did....

* vanilla and chocolate powder (4-5 times per day)

* PB2 Peanut Butter powder to add to chocolate shakes

* I made coffee and cooled it then mixed vanilla powder and caramel SF Torrini Syrup in and poured it over ice

* lots of SF Jello

* I got sick of chicken broth so I bought a family size can of chicken noodle Soup and poured the broth out then kept adding Water to the noodles/chicken mixed it around and strained it out again x2. I restrained that mixture and used that as broth, way more seasoned! I also added Mrs. Dash for some zip

I really missed chewing. I would chew gum once in a while to help with that. I also got so tired of all the sweet drinks!! chicken broth was very helpful then too.

sugar free popsicles are another great treat during this phase.

the pre op diet went much better than I thought it would. Make sure you don't get too hungry. If you start to feel hungry drink a Protein shake. Just keep looking at some of the before and after pics on here. That will be YOU some day soon!

Good luck

I also have 4 days left --- It's been a bit of a struggle for me, but I was not taking NEAR enough calories. I talked to my nutritionist and she said that point of this is not to lose weight but to prep for surgery. She told me to eat (or should I say drink in this case) whenever I was hungry. After meeting with her, day 5 and today (day 6) are going much better! I too look at this as the final test, if I can't do this, how can I expect to be successful with the sleeve, and I am super motivated to start seeing the number dropping on the scale!

Best of luck!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
