I Love My Kids More Than I Love To Eat

Recommended Posts

I decided to get the Sleeve now at the age of 33 young, because I have 4 beautiful children I am finding hard to keep up with. I was athletic all my life until I bared children. I am looking forward to a new Life style for myself and my family. My husband who loves me no matter what size I am , Does not want me to get this surgery do to his thinking of something can go bad and that I could die. I tell him that I am already dying faster than most with all my extra weight I carry around. I love my self and because of my spiritual beliefs and loving family I know that I will feel great and enjoy my new chance on life! My surgery date is NOV 30th 2012. I am having surgery along with My sister who has the same date as myself. She is having bypass surgery so it will be fun to see the diffrence with her surgery and mine. I live in Mississippi since 2002 but I am born and raised from NJ. I am so happy to find a websight like this ...all your stories of trials and tribulations are facinating as well as educational to me. I will use this as a tool for my travels through my weight loss. I am really looking forward to living a healthier, brighter, more passionate life. So thankyou everyone for being here for me! KR

Welcome KR... And good luck on your journey to a healthier and happier life. My goal surgery is Dec, but it's not set in stone, yet, but I'm excited just the same.

Thumbs up to you and your sister for making the choice

Hi JerseyGirl1979,

I liked your post. My wife got the bypass, I got the sleeve 2 months after her operation. It's great to have someone with you on the journey. Niether one of us have had any major problems outside of having to buy clothes a lot. ^_^

Welcome! I got the surgery for the same reasons as you - though I'm 10 years older. I have a six year old daughter I want to keep up with, see off to college, get married, and grandbabies - all in due time of course.

I haven't regretted my surgery! Good luck!

How exciting, your wonderful shrinking journey is ahead of you. I wonder why your sister has to have the bypass? I am thanful the sleeve lets me absorb my Vitamins and nutrients better.

Your husband sounds like a very sweet man, & the fact that he is gonna be there for you regardless of him preferring that you would not is admirable?

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
