As of now, my biggest fear is approval. Then if I get approved it will be complications. Then if I'm complications free it will be Hair loss. And then it will be my saggy skin.

Complications from the surgery. (Leaks)

this is what you should fear most. that and death both of which i faced after the surgery. pain like you could never imagine. nearly leaving my family for months. hundreds of thousands in additional bills not normally covered by insurance (because the sleeve wasn't). id trade my experience for some loose skin any day.

Iggy let me ask you why you had the sleeve done?

how about my fears if i dont have the surgery...dying from high blood pressure related death(i have chronic high bp), getting on insulin for diabetes , diabetes itselt (im pre diabetic now), ending up in a wheel chair because my back is so f***ed up..but the biggest and scariest is dying young and not being around for my kids and sharing in their lives and memories they make. I have had alot of health problems and have experienced a sense of "doom" if i don't get healthier..im only 29 and my boys are 21 months and 9 mths old. i have the rest of my life to live and in my eyes this surgery isn't ELECTIVE, it is necessary for my survival..my pcp agrees. we all need to remember that yes there is a very small chance that something can happen and that is scary and has crossed my mind so i just had to weigh my options and for me and my circumstances surgery gives me the best chance of a longer and healthier life so the rest im putting in gods hands. i have read alot about possible complications during my research to have the surgery but i choose not to now because It will just create doubt and uncertainty and i want to go into the or feeling happy and not afraid to die or that something that happened to someone else could happen to me. good luck everyone and i really hope that no one has any complications and go thru with the surgery and leads a great life.

I, too, was most afraid of NOT having the surgery. I have 3 small children and the certainty of not living a long, healthy life was far more terrifying than anything I conjured up pre-surgery.

Health concerns, both current and looming, would have significantly shortened my life. I realize, of course, that I could get hit by a beer truck tomorrow and die, but I had to do everything in my power to live as long as possible so that my children have a mother.

I was certain of my decision and wouldn't have had regrets even had I experienced complications. I HAD to do this for myself and my family.

Not lose anymore weight I have been very very slow 3 1/2 weeks and I'm only down 10lb. Biggest fear not dropping any more pounds and being fat forever. I don't worry about losing hair there are hair extensions and designer wigs.

Of course we fear that. That's we are getting or have gotten the surgery. But our other fears are real and valid too. This is a BIG deal no matter what angle you look at it.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
