How long post op was it before you started having bowel movements again? I was always "regular"...at least once a day. I am 4 days post op and nothing yet. I am starting to have some gas that I am not so sure I want to trust, but still nothing. Not cramping or anything, so I believe everything is fine...just curious as to how long after surgery it took for everyone else?

I was about 4 or 5 days in when that end started working again. Today it's doing overtime! It apparently objects to Tomato Soup. I was told to expect a bm every two to three days to start with.

I had horrible diareah about 4 or 5 days post op and then got sooo constipated its not even funny. I am still not regular and have to take Fiber, mirilax AND senecot. It seems like overkill but it is what helps me go. !

It may be several days and that may not change. It's not uncommon.

The first time I went was about 4 days post op I had diarrea the first 2 weeks then the 3 week I didn't go at all. Then I was so constipated I though I was have to go to the ER to get it removed I know to much TMI but it was so bad I never felt like that ever. I took mirax and senokot still nothing the next morning my husband made me a cup of Decaf coffee and that did it!!!! I never want to feel that way again. So I take senokot every other day and that seem to be working.

Thanks for all of the replies. WOW...more than one week! I do have different stool softeners and Constipation aids just in case, but that is not the case so far. Sounds like I am normal :) I am making some very LOUD bowel sounds this evening, which would make sence since I plan to go to the Carolina Renaissance Festival tomorrow. The day I have nothing but porta-johns will be the day I will start with screaming diarrhea, right? lol

Will not stop me though...I have season passes to the festival and do not want to waste a single day ;)

4days post op I also am experiencing very loud bowel sound randomly. I'm not sure what triggers it. It's been two days with random bouts of diarrhea. Sorry if tmi.

I was 3 days post op. It happened while I was at the hospital. I'm 11 days post op now and don't go everyday. I have gone 2/3 days without going.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
