Insurance Companies Are So Petty

It is amazing how many times I have contacted United Healthcare just to find out exactly what I need to submit for a pre certification. I mean I have contacted them at least 10 * and finally today I got the answers I needed it's like heaven gates open for me. Thankfully all that is needed is a high BMI I have wonderful health insurance. Why in the H E double hockey sticks did it take so long for them to tell me that 1 simple sentence. I wasn't asking for them to perform the surgery I was asking a simple question and even then it took an hour and 5 different people before I finally got the answers that I was looking for. Thank God all that I have left to do is visit the nutritionist and they will submit. Please pray that the approval arrive promptly and I can get my surgery scheduled

Hello, I also have United Health Care Choice Plus PPO as my insurance. My doctor just submitted a request for VSG. I have a BMI of 39.5 but last five years my BMI was lower. Do you know if UHC just looks at current BMI?

All depends on your criteria under your summary plan description.
