I hate this time of year. It's depressing to me and I've just got no motivation. I'm back up to 369. I don't know what to do with myself anymore. I'm going to try and make myself go to Water arobic's this week. We'll see what happens.

Well crap. Went in for my fill and he couldn't access my port. He stuck me about 12 times and still couldn't get it. He said I'm going to be really sore later! Not fun since I didn't even get the fill to make the pain worth it. :( They are checking with my insurance company to see if they will cover a fill under x-ray (I was self-pay for the surgery) and possibly a port revision. He thinks my port might have flipped, in which case he will give me a local and some light sedation then make a small incision and move the port closer to the skin. He's had some patients with a short area between the rib cage and waist, like me, who've had problems with port access. I'm hoping my insurance will cover it all. We'll do the x-ray fill first to see if it has indeed flipped.

Dang it! I just want some freakin' restriction. :( I feel like I paid all this money for nothing right now. :)

With my second fill, it seems to vary from meal to meal. The day after my fill, I had some meatloaf and some veggies. Two days later, when I tried to eat a skillet dish with eggs, I literally took one bite, and couldn't eat any more. I find that fish goes down the easiest. I am hardly eating anything - yogurt and a half of a banana in the morning, a few tiny bites of Protein and some veggies at lunch, maybe a piece of fruit an hour later, and a few more tiny bites of protein at dinner, followed by a diet fudgsicle (which I am NOT giving up). I am losing weight, but I am eating SO much less than I used to eat, I don't know how I couldn't.

Brandy, get off the scale! You are probably losing inches. Muscle weighs more than fat. I also had a few weeks where I didn't lose a pound, and then it started again. And of course you can have a hug!!!!

Thank you Eileen. I need to throw my scale into the garbage. It is not my friend. I hate it. I am addicted to it though, what do I do to break the addiction???

I had my second fill today -- although it turns out it was really a "refill". I had lost .5cc so he just added it back. Ok, I know it is totally normal to lose some and the doctor said it is NOT leaking. But WHERE does it go? I just can't wrap my brain around the concept that this sealed thing loses saline. Yet it does not actually leak. Anyone have a good way to explain it?

So far I feel good restriction, though I've only been on mushy stuff. PLEASE let it last longer than the first fill.

BUG, I'm so sorry. That totally sucks. I only got stuck with the needle once and I am sore - you poor thing!

BOO BOO, I found that if I only weigh myself once a week I don't get too obsessed. Ideally, I'd like to get to every 2 weeks. Then I think I could safely say it was a true loss or gain. Even every week can give you a screwy impression of you true progress.

I've been busy and haven't been able to check in and say hi. I went down to TJ for my second fill today. My original 1.8 was still in, and now I'm up to 2.5. I've had NO problems yet....eat anything I want....and I'm down a total of 43 lbs. now (including pre-op), but I'm so worried that the trouble will start with this second fill. Guess I'll have to wait and see. I'm so hungry right now. Thank God it's only 24 hours of liquids for me this time.

Finally, finally, today I hit 199!!!! I lingered at 200 so long that I thought the scale was broken!!!! This is a big milestone for me as I never want to see the 200s again.

The 2nd fill is definitely working and I have watch everything I eat at every meal every day because the restriction kicks in really quickly.

Pebbles, you look awesome!!!

Congrads Robin! I just had my 2nd fill and had two days of liquids (my own decision) because I have been between 301 and 303 for a month. I wanted to give myself a kick and hope that I become a Twoterville. Well, I did it. I am now 298!!! I'm staying on mushies for a couple of more days so I can get further away from 300. I never want to see that number again.

I don't know if I have restriction yet but it does feel different when I swallow. So I hope I do.

Diane

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
