I am 5 weeks out and I can't relate to the people who say they are stuffed after 1/2 chicken nugget.

I try to eat protein only and lately I've been "filling up" with salad to cut the calories.

Dense Protein fills me up after about 2-3 ounces and I'm 6 weeks out. I found that crackers etc are "slider" foods and provide no restriction so I have to steer clear of those. My surgeon said no salad/raw veggies for 3 months so I haven't been having that.

So I am 5 months out and follow the 600 - 800 calories/64 oz min water/min 60 prot/20 to 40 carbs that a lot of people seem to follow. I measure everything and only eat 1.5 to 2 oz of meat for each meal. I could eat more and I could def fit in many more carbs if I wanted. I feel satisfied with these portions...not full. Well, not full like in the pre sleeve days. Sometime, if I feel a little crazy, I add in a few low carb veggie Snacks. Carbs = Cravings and being hungrier for many of us. Just because you can eat more doent mean that you should. Losing weight pretty quickly (115 lbs) and feeling more energy lets me know this is the right plan for me.

That is a good way to look at it, thank you.

I am having trouble figuring out what's "enough" and what's too much, so I eat more calories than I should. Still crazy less than pre-sleeve, but more than I should.

Ok so how do you get all your Water in? That has been one of my biggest problems!! I'm almost 4 months out. I only get about 24/ 36 oz water in. :( what do you use to measure/ track everything?

I can't drink plain water, it hurts too much. I do a mix of 1/2 G2, and 1/2 water in a water bottle. It cuts the calories and carbs of plain G2, and it's not too sweet. I drink at least 4 bottles of the 16.9 oz water bottles (68oz). I usually drink more, because I work out for an hour and a half most days, so I can drink 2 while at at the gym. I prepare the bottles ahead of time, and this has been the easiest way for me to track my fluids. Once I really started paying attention to this, it seems like the weight is coming off quicker. Good Luck!

try using MyFitnessPal if you aren't already! I LOVE it! it shows me each day how many calories I got as well as grams of Protein, carbs, and fat. even shows Vitamins.. you can track "water" too.. I also get Vitamin Water Zero and water it down half with water because plain water just doesn't seem to sit well with me.

p.s. if anyone wants to add me on MFP my username is angelsept19

Same for me. Had a cracker with my chili one day...and another etc. definitely a slider for me.

I dont often drink plain water... I kind of hate the taste of it. =). I drink Decaf tea w/ sweet and low, decaf coffee, the sugar free kool aid type stuff, and use mio water flavoring. I eat mostly meat 1.5 to 2 oz-- chicken, hamburger, fish, pork chops, and some lunch meats. I do eat low carb veggies like cauliflower, cucumbers, celery. I also eat eggs and cheeses. I do go out to eat and even eat fast food (grilled chicken snack wrap w/O tortilla, cheeseburger no bun, etc). I weigh everything on a cheap kitchen scale, which I would recommend everyone get. I had no idea how much I would use it. I log everything into myfitnesspal.com on my phone. It tracks my calories, carbs, and Protein. It seems like a hassle at first but really it only takes seconds to enter. My name is hollirrose if you want to add me. I keep my food diary open so you can see what I really eat. Hope this helps!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
