Greetings, Jan. Sleevers. I was sleeved on Wednesday and came home Friday night. Surgery was longer than planned, so recovery room time was longer. General anesthesia can cause nausea. I had no idea. I do now! Worst part of hosptial stay was the gas. The morphine, which was followed by codeine, locked up my large intestine. So I could not eliminate the gas they used during the surgery. Walking and a warmed blanket on the belly offered some pain relief. Once I got off pain meds and onto children's liquid ibuprofen, the gut calmed right down. My incisions are small and staples come out on Monday. I think that is wicked fast, but the surgeon wants them out on days 5-10 to reduce scarring. Super weird that there is no dressing on the incisions. But the doc is right. They don't need them. I am sleeping alot. And I have never been so happy to drink boxed chicken broth in my whole life. Very comforting.

Hey

I am new to this. I'm getting sleeved January 10, 2013. I am 34 yo male, 325 lbs.

Excited, nervous and freaking out all at the same time.

Can anyone give some good advice in liquids and puréed foods?

Shakes... I got covered and have a variety.

People say you forget to eat after bring sleeved?

Is this true?

Also that would be a huge change from always looking for food to forgetting to eat.

Give me some advice men....

Tomorrow is the big day. Started the Clear Liquids today with the pre op prep. Feet are getting a little cold but excited as well. No turning back now. See you on the post surgery side.

Good luck, Y'all! I am one week out and feeling good. The staples are out, and I am drinking lots of coconut Water (high in potassium/electrolytes), mint tea, and eating chicken broth, egg drop Soup (no msg) and cream of rice (the latter in tiny portions!). See you on the other side!!

I'm feeling great! I had some significant vision loss as a side effect of the medications and anesthesia but it seems to be resolving today. Overall the process has been pretty smooth but I will admit that I was a bit shocked by how little fluids I can consume in one swallow to avoid the tight chest feeling - but I am persistant and have been able to get in at least my minimum Fluid requirements. I am now 4 days post op and just finished a mile walk (I did walk slow) but overall I am thrilled to be on the recovery side instead of the waiting side.

That's great! I hope I am up and about that quick!

Less than 2 weeks for me!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
