Ok so I had the infamous three week stall... But I got over it. And when I get my period I dont lose as much

But I have been stalled for like 2 weeks now and I don't have my period.

I think my problem is not enough exercise and not being able to resist temptation as well

I am almost five months out and down 110 pounds... But I still weigh 262!!

Far from goal

Any suggestions? Anyone wanna give me a swift kick in the behind?

I feel like I should know the answer but can not enough Protein slow your weight loss? I prob get about 30 grams a day... I know... Bad

First off congrats on losing 110lbs! That is a huge accomplishment.

Now for the kick in the butt.

You know what you are doing wrong, so the real question here is how to correct it.

You simply must at minimum double preferably triple your Protein intake

It's no surprise that you are falling to temptations, protein is what keeps you satiated.

You need to plan your food & drink before the day begins. Eating is not a casual thing to do when your "hungry" or "feel" like eating anymore.

Get a food journal or planner, and instead of writing down what you eat after you eat it you should plan your meals & Snacks in advance.

Planning= Preperation= Success

30g of protein? I'm guessing you are not using any protein supplements.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but, you need to use something.

Back to basics. Plan a diet that gives you protein throughout the day, & plenty of Water.

Keep in mind eating white carbs creates cravings for more white carbs. So make it a point to resist the temptations & it will get progressively easier

Also don't discount the advantages of seeing a counselor. We all have issues with food & many times they can help us to recognize why we continue our unhealthy eating habits.

I am 30 days post surgery. I have been stuck for the last week. I drink 3-4 Protein shakes a day....either the GNC brand or Ensure.

I still do not eat much.....I have an occasional meal of mashed potatoes or refried Beans and two night ago ate a scrambled egg. I sometimes eat a snack of natural Peanut Butter.

What am I doing wrong?

Hi Steve,

Congrats on your surgery & on starting your journey to your new life.

I'd really like a bit more insight on your daily diet, but something that jumps out to me right away is that you appear to be mislead on what a Protein shake is.

Since I don't know what GNC product you are using I will skip that one, but I'd like to address the Ensure.

Ensure is a Meal Replacement, not a Protein Shake. I'm looking at a strawberry Ensure right now & it only provides 9grams of Protein but slams you with 250 calories & 40carbs

So let's say you are drinking 4 of these in a day. That's 1000 calories 160 carbs and 36g of protein.

That is about 1/3 the protein that I would recommend for a man. About double the carbs, and right about the total caloric intake I get.

I advocate a 10/1 calorie/protein ratio. So at the end of the day if you are going to consume 1000 calories you should be getting 100g protein.

The first thing I'd do is scrap the Meal Replacement shakes & find a protein supplement you like, or at least can tolerate.

Here's a few you can try:

powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury -- 20g protein / 100cal

Syntrax Nectar® -- 23g protein / 100cal

Premier Protein -- 30g protein / 160cal

CytoSport RTD -- 32g protein / 130cal

Hope this helps.

The Ensure I am using has 25g Protein, 3g of Fiber, 5g sugars...250 calories. It is called Ensure High Protein Shake

Even though it may have high Protein I would make sure that ensure dosnt have a lot of carbs-that may be it

It is a bit high calorie for my program, but not so much that I'd turn my nose up to it.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
