Losing weight is similar to rolling a ball up a hill and down the other side.. It's slow goin up, then it'll almost stall at the peak then once u hit the slope it'll all come together. Just keep doin what your doing.. And stay active which is most important..

As many others have said congratulations! I think that exercise is good for toning and your heart but unless you run triathalons it doesn't have a big effect on weight loss. I have read so many posts too of people eating low fat, this and that. Why would we have to be so concerned when we are eating such small quantities, we need fat in our diets. I think we need to relax with our food, eat our Protein first and watch our carb intake.

You have done amazing and I wish you a speedy road to your goal!!

Thank you for the replies everyone!! As of today I weigh 161, so I have officially lost 80 pounds! :) That also means that I have 21 pounds to get to my first major goal of 140.

I am in size 10 bottoms and M/L tops. I bought several tops yesterday for a business trip and all were M, but there are some that are still a little too tight in the chest and need an L. I have a size 10 pair of American Eagle jeans that I am absolutely in love with. Here are some more pictures (in the jeans!)... they were from when I was at 163-164. Please excuse the weird stance and lighting in both pics, I was on a step stool in the one because I don't have a full-length mirror.

095

Someone said I look a little drawn in the close-up. I think I look fine/good, but it could just be because that person, a co-worker, was so used to seeing me with such a round face.

These are the kids! Miniature Sicilian donkeys...can you see the resemblance?

So there you have it! So far, my no-stress approach seems to be paying off. I am hoping to be at my goal by the end of the year :) THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for all the kind words and support!!!

I loved looking at the before/after/progress pics while I was just getting started here' date=' so I always try to reciprocate :)

Before: 241 (probably got up into the 250's but wasn't tracking)

No real pre-op loss.

Currently: 166-168.

Nutrition: Focus on Protein and Water. Can basically eat and drink whatever I want in very small portions. Foods that don't agree with me: bread, tortillas and rice generally don't sit well so I avoid them. Pasta is ok, and so are crackers/toast. My favorite foods: anything seafood. In the last few weeks I've eaten salmon, swordfish, shrimp, and sushi. Also: cheese, in any way, shape or form. I've had more caprese salad in the last month than in the rest of my life combined. Yum yum! My not-guilty-at-all guilty pleasure: coffee, with full fat Creamer and occasionally some sweetener (read: on my period, heh). Every day. Mmmm. Stuff that goes down easier than I wish it would: Anything made of potato. DAMN YOU, POTATOES! *shakes fist*

Also worth noting - I can eat as much fruit and veggies as a "normal" person. No one would ever know I had surgery when eating from a veggie tray. For some odd reason, there's no restriction with those two items. I can't eat as quickly as I used to, but I could graze all day. Weird!

I've taken a purposeful no-stress policy over this. Stress stalls weight loss. You heard it here first! I had no pre-op, I have very, very laid-back post-op, and although my weight loss has slowed, I'm still losing consistently. 75lbs in 4.5 months is more than good enough for me :) My current exercise routine is... well, nothing. Not NOTHING, I guess, if you count typing as exercise. I work a lot and am terribly out of shape. So it's been slow going to get started.

Pictures:

Size 18/20. That's an XXL shirt from Kohl's. Summer 2011.

This is a before/progress. Winter 2012 on the left, and about 40lbs down (or about 35lbs ago) on the right.

Approx. 168lbs

Approx. 168lbs. Size L yoga pants from Target (Champion) and size M shirt (unisex)

Trying on at Old Navy :) Sweetheart boot cut jeans in 12 short. Hoodie is a L. Both fit comfortably and will likely be loose in approx. 2-3 weeks.

IF I CAN DO IT, ANYONE CAN. Hope this gives someone out there the inspiration they need to get healthy![/quote']

Congratulations! Your weight loss is phenomenal are u on mfp? I would love to look at your daily food diary. Keep up the good work!

Thanks do much!! Didn't read thru all the comments but do u have loose skin??

Hi! I do have a little loose skin but not as much as I was expecting. The worst is under my upper arms, and my thighs. My stomach is actually flattening out nicely, but I do have more weight to lose there. My breasts actually still look pretty good too, lol. However, I hear those will go at the very end, so I won't make any promises on that.

I'm going to wait a year or two on the skin before considering surgery, as I know the skin will need some extra time to bounce back, and I am young so I remain hopeful, hehe. Good question!

Thanks for the support!! Good luck to you!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
