Acid Reflux.... Will It Get Better

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved 5/29 and I am having serious issues with acid reflux. I don't get the burn that every talks about its more like bubbles that keeps moving. It makes eating very hard...like I need another reason not to eat. It affects me all day no matter what I eat or drink. (Even water)

Has anyone else had this issue? Does it eventually go away? BTW I never had these issues before.

I am having the exact same issues. Only a month out, but it is so bad that I am having trouble getting anything down.

I probably should have mentioned earlier that I've already tried of cocktail medicines. I was in the hospital for 2weeks post op and this was one of my issues. I just really wanna know based on experience is this gonna be a life long issue?

I got some prilosec from my doctor - not sure if it's working since my acid reflux comes and goes, but yeah =/ I hope it goes away too.

I don't know if it will ever get better (for me). I came home from the hospital on liquid Zantac. That worked well until I was advanced to "soft/pureed" foods. After several days of that I started experiencing breakthrough acid reflux. My surgeon added a daily Prevacid "solutab" (it melts in your mouth), and bumped me back to full liquids for an additional 3 weeks. When I finally moved back to soft foods, I had no more problems with acid. I'm quite content to take my Zantac & Prevacid..never miss a dose..for as long as it takes! LOL (The reflux was miserable!)

I hope you find something that helps!

Laura

My doctor said that there is a procedure tht could fix I... but it also may take away some of the restriction. I am hinking about it if I still have it a a year from now. I want to be able to eat more. I was steadily losing weight b4 my surgery... it just wasn't going fast enough and consistently enough so I think I can handle a little more room in my belly after goal- even if its just salad! While I ponder whether I want to have it done.... Prevacid works great! They sell it over the counter but you have to take a double dose to make it equal to the Rx and the capsules are much bigger

I had a little bit of acid reflux before the op, but now I am really suffering from it. They have increased my dosage of Omeprazole which is starting to work. But I am barely eating now. Some days I don't eat at all as I know I will be sick. Whatever you do, don't drink wine!

I was thinking about a glass of wine last night. I had the worst episode of reflux at 2 am this morning. Woke up with burning in my chest. Bad pain. Took prevacid and hydrocodone. Ice chips did not help. Then I was nauseated so the pills came up . Thanks for the heads up. If I had drank the wine it could have been even worse.

You might try the Prevacid solutabs, instead of pills...they dissolve quickly in your mouth, and are orange flavored (not hideous).

well guys thanks for all the input today I'm on my way to see it acupuncturists. I read on the group that someone saw 1 and she never had a problem with acid reflux again. I really pray that says what happened to me. I did a bit a research and it seems that acid reflux is definitely 1 of the things that they can help with.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
