Nimm got a reaction from Lainybee1987 in First Time Drinking Alcohol Post OpHave been wondering this myself so thanks everyone for all the answers!
I actually just thought of this -- I studied abroad in France for four months and while there, I saw parents (several times) pouring a bit of wine into the Water they gave to their children - a common practice in France. And wine has been said by many people to actually be good for your heart... so I'm wondering if maybe that's not a bad idea. Maybe not day one, or even week one, but adding a tiny bit of whatever type of wine you want to water to ease back into that lifestyle for those who need it.
I'm going to try to stay away from fruity/sugary stuff myself, but I'll also be honest - I'm 24, and I'm in college still. It's just a social thing (plus I likes my wineee) but I'm going to be much smarter about it now *hugs stomach*

Nimm got a reaction from amykins in Sleeved 8/27. Lessons Learned For Future SleeversHaha! He went to school with me every day (Even had a teddy-bear sided Beauty and the Beast backpack) and was there for my kindergarten graduation too. And my highschool graduation. And when I went to France. And the second time I went to France (and Italy, and London, and Switzerland.) And when I graduated (although I kinda didn't, whoops) from college. There's no way my mother would have even DREAMED about getting rid of him. I'm being buried with that thing!

Nimm reacted to aviiva in I Ate And It And I Am Not Going To Beat Myself Up!Why are some people on here so rude and nasty we are all in this together everyone knows what to eat this is a life style change but we also have to live our lives and if someone wants to eat a icecream sandwich in moderation that is fine they don't need to be beat up about it. I cannot imagine eating just protein and not having a treat for the rest of my life. But you van rest assured I will not talk about out here since some people think they ate the judge and the jury

Nimm got a reaction from skane10 in I Ate And It And I Am Not Going To Beat Myself Up!I'm so scared to cheat, haha. I've been watching that scale go down every other day and I'm CONVINCED if I have anything sweet at all it's going to bounce back up to my original weight. (I know this isn't the case but karma has never been nice to me)
If you limit yourself from everything good you're going to go crazy and binge. I've been to a few support group meetings and more than several people have stated this. As long as you keep such things as, let's say a weekly or bi-weekly treat, you should be absolutely fine.
I'm living quasi-vicariously through you guys until I stop looking at the scale and work up the courage to visit a Coldstone. I think if I meet my mini goal I'll treat myself to a scoop!
-
As long as you don't start justifying a "treat" every day, you should be ok! It's the "I deserve this treat every single day or two or three or four times a day" issue that leads us back to where we were.
I had a 1/4 of a roll at the pizza place (along with some salad and the toppings off of 1 slice). I had vowed I would NOT eat that roll, but dammit it smelt so good!

Nimm got a reaction from thenerd in Amusement Parks RideI'm so glad someone else thought of this too! Hahaha.
I don't do heights to well so rides and airplanes are kind of a meh goal for me. I do however want to be able to walk into to say a Target and be able to buy something that will fit. Or a GAP, oh that would be so much betterrrrr.
And I want a cute pea coat that doesn't make me LOOK like a pea!

Nimm got a reaction from LorenaVaca in My GoalMan, just think about how awesome it's going to fit into those pants every time you start feeling down. That makes me wish I'll stumble across something awesome like that to keep my hopes up!
Keep truckin' - you'll get there!

Nimm reacted to scorpion509 in Is My Sleeve Broken?Hey, what's happened?
I found your post form 6 month ago
where is the person who wrote it? Come on.... I am sure you can be back on track. put the picture of yourself before surgery on the refrigerator and ask yourself DO YOU WANT TO BE LIKE THIS AGAIN??
-
Nimm reacted to lessofmeismore in Is My Sleeve Broken? It's ok, you can be that person again.
Tomorrow is a new day. If you mess up, try again.
Getting off track and gaining some weight does not mean your doomed.
Things happen, and now its time to get back on track.
Have faith!

Carrie, I am also 10 days out and only told close family and friends. I feel the same way you do. I think I will just tell people that I finally wanted to get healthy and am doing something about the weight.
Some may guess about the surgery and some won't. But eating smaller portions and exercising will only show that you are serious about getting the pounds off. No matter what anyone says to you, keep you head up. You made a great decision to get healthy, let them say what they want. When we are both at our goal weight with ROCKING BODIES... Who will care?

Nimm reacted to LorenaVaca in 3 Days Post-Op And Feeling Regret :'(Thank you to all of you have given me such great advice and for reminding that there is light at the end of the tunnel. I am not soneone who tolerates gas or nausea very well. I could prob do the pain better. I feel soar but not to the extent i cant stand it. The gas has been my main complication. I myself cant get all the liquids in that they would like and what makes it worst is when i do take a sip or two it cause even more gas. I know it is all worth in the end but what makes it harder for me is having a 4yr old to take care of. My husband works two jobs so there hardley any help there. I just feel selfish i guess knowing that i cant be the mommy that he is used to. Its almost as if he is taking care of me. Again thank you ladies for all of your encouraging words! Cant wait to see the outcome

Nimm got a reaction from LorenaVaca in 3 Days Post-Op And Feeling Regret :'(Same boat as well - sleeved on Tuesday (8/7) and I think by the next day I was in my bed crying because I had ruined my life. I was in the hospital two extra days, I didn't want to drink anything, and when I did I could only have a sip before my body hurt so much I couldn't stand it. WALKING HELPS. That's pretty much all I did when I got the chance, and even though I got the hiccups every time I went for a walk (and boy did they hurt) I could tell they helped with the gas. I think the gas was my biggest issue as well, even when I was cleared to go home, my biggest fear was that I'd have to live with the gas forever.
I'm home now and I still dont think I drink as much as they say I should, but I feel tons better. Stitches are of course sore, but I barely have any gas problems. I kept thinking that it wasn't going to ever get better and it did! So hang in there it can only get better from here.

24, still in college kicking around some ideas, and I'm having surgery August 7th. It's nice to see a site like this - a hard topic for conversation with most people

Nimm got a reaction from Smiley79 in Delta Bumped Me Up To First Class!^ this, exactly.
I LOVE to travel but airplanes have always been pretty terrible (I also dont like flying, haha) and so I can't WAIT for this to happen to me. In fact I think 'being comfy in seats' was in the top five of the my 'pros' list.

Nimm got a reaction from Silly Phylly in Lurker No More!Haha, thanks guys! Just by looking around the site I'm already a lot more excited than I have been. And I'll definitely have my game face on - I'm sooo ready for cheaper clothing (I'm a poor college student - can't afford LB prices!) comfy air plane seats aaaaaand I knit, and tons of sweaters and such only come and look good in smaller sizes! So hurrah! I'm actually about to start one that's a couple sizes too small right now my mom says I'm going to be super cold this winter (which also means a new coat - maybe I can find a pea-coat that fits!!) so there's no harm in preparing!

Nimm got a reaction from Silly Phylly in Lurker No More!Hello!
I've been lurking on this site for quite a while and I figured, now that my surgery date is so close, it's time take a more active approach.
Never in my whole life have I been at an appropriate weight - my whole family is like this. About three years ago my mother had gastric bypass (the roux-en-y surgery) and even though she complains about it a lot (she's quite prone to dramatics) I could easily see that it changed her life. It took a while for me to think about it, but I finally decided early January that this was a step that I wanted to take in creating a long, happy, healthy life. I'm 24, and starting a new school in the fall, and I'm going to have a whole new life to do it with. It's like a huuuge brand new start, a chance to change my approach/outlook on tons of things, and I could not be happier. Honestly. I'm impatient by nature and I have to resist the urge to stamp my foot every once in a while because I want to get these changes underway!
I joined the site because, although I'm entirely optimistic about surgery, I'm also extremely worried. I've seen the struggles my mother has gone through, and even though she had a different surgery entirely, I wonder how I'll be able to handle the same things. I dont have a lot of people I feel comfortable broaching the topic of weight loss surgery with and it's a wonderful thing to find an entire forum's worth of people to chat with and gain insight from. I dont have to have all the logistical conversations with myself, and that is awesome!
My surgery is currently scheduled for August 7th. I'm worried I wont have lost all the weight by then (I still have 9 pounds to go, although I hear the pre-surgery liquid diet helps a lot with that) but I've come too far to muck it up now. I just can't wait to do this! I have grand plans of being able to ride a bike again, or rollerblade, or attend zumba class! I've been spending weeks looking up home-made meals full of veggies and what not... yay!
I also get carried away a lot. Anyhow, I just wanted to drop in and say hi I'm excited to read other peoples' journeys while I'm having my own!
