Wow... Sushi is one of my faves but I like the rolls versus sashimi... I am lucky to get 3 pieces of a roll down now though.... LOL Prior to surgery I could eat 2-3 whole rolls!!

Love me some sushi!!!!! :)

Good to know, I love sushi but I was worried it was too carb heavy to tolerate. Thanks!

I like sushi, but it's a lot of white rice and carbs. A couple of pieces once or twice a week probably won't kill a diet, but be careful.

What about fish without the rice? I've started buying a couple of fish fillets when I grocery shop every week. Tilapia, salmon, cod. Tastes good broiled or baked. Not as good as sushi, but still good.

I love me some sushi too! What amazes me is when I go to a sushi bar and place my 2 pc salmon roe order, the waiter/tress can't believe that is all im ordering! Before surgery, I would order one of those variety boats and eat just about every piece of sushi on it. Now, I get full off a cup of miso Soup and just those 2 pieces!

Thank you for sharing this, because California rolls were my fav before surgery and so far what I'm missing most post surgery. Eating only 2 will definitely be a different pace from what I'm used to eating. But at this point I'll take anything. :)

That sounds good, I will have to look around to see what else places around Denver use besides white rice. They sell brown rice sushi at the Safeway grocery store, but it's pretty gross.

Ooo thanks for this thread. I'd been trying to get together with a friend pre-op for sushi (I've NEVER had it before and I want to try it soooo baaaaaad) but I wasn't sure how something like this would work post-op. Good to hear that people seem to manage it well enough, hopefully I do too!

Sushi goes down pretty good for me as well, I ate half (4 slices) of a california roll made with brown rice last weekend, it was the best ever.....I just make sure I workout on the days I plan to eat it....

I had no problem with eating the wrapper. I tend to cut up my food into small pieces (yes, i even did it with my 2 sushi slices). Had more problems tryin to cut into the seaweed wrapper than eating/digesting it...lol!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
