TiredOfChubRub got a reaction from cccv4 in What Will Happen If I Don't Follow The 2 Week Preopp Diet?i too am very scared about being able to do the 2 week pre op diet. We are only allowed to choose between 2 kinds of "meal replacement" shakes, and -
I was terrified, too, but it all went away the day before surgery when I was very, very calm. I had no pain, nausea, or vomiting post-op and a very easy recovery. I've lost 96 lbs and wear a size 6! You can do it!
-
At 6 1/2 mos post op I have lost 90lbs, dropped from a size 24/26 to a size 14, have more energy than I have had since before I gained the weight, am able to run after my 2 year old without getting winded, I feel attractive again, I feel HEALTHY again, I am confident that I'll remain healthy enough to watch my son grow into the amazing man I'm sure he's going to be, and most importantly he'll be free of the food issues I had because now on top of my already healthy menu, my portions are healthy too.
If that's not enough to warm up those cold feet, I'm not sure anything will...

My surgeon has his patients do Atkins induction for 2-3 weeks prior to surgery - we didn't have to have shakes unless we wanted to. I lived on grilled chicken, turkey, tuna fish, small caesar salads, steak, and cheese here and there - dropped 14 lbs in a week and a half and I guess my liver was lean and mean when they got in there.
Every doc is different - but if you can start to drop those carbs to 20 or less - it is pretty much what you will be doing once you start eating again. I am also one that does not care much for sweet tasting things.
Ketones from the burning of fat is actually one of the body's preferred and most efficient fuels - it is remarkable how much better you feel, and look. Just make sure to get your fluids and Vitamins in. I still have a few Premier Protein shakes a week - I look at it as a supplement/medicine with a 30 gram wallop of protein

TiredOfChubRub got a reaction from birdEbird in Has Anyone Gone Into Ketosis With Diet Instead Of Shakes?I tried ungery, and hated it. I am doing Bariatric Advantage which isn't much better. Those were the only two options I was given. I like the Isopure drinks from Vitamin Shoppe but I am not supposed to be drinking them. I am just so tired of sweet drinks. I just want something savory...Yogurt, chicken, cottage cheese, eggs. I am just not a sweets person.

TiredOfChubRub got a reaction from CG75 in Has Anyone Gone Into Ketosis With Diet Instead Of Shakes?I am with u. I am getting to the point where I just want to go hungry than drink those things. I am fine with the Isopure, but that is not on my plan, and am not allowed chicken broth which I would die for right now. I just want something savory.
-
I am with you guys. Im on day 4 and it's getting to the point where i would rather stay hungry than Drink another sicky sweet protein shake. Ugh! I've been doing the broth thing and mixing the Isopure iced tea with water and lemon to make it bearable. I drink my weight in decaf herbal Hot tea and water. I also stuck a protein shake in my ice cream maker once which was interesting and not half bad.

TiredOfChubRub got a reaction from UTGal99 in Body Dysmorphia In ReverseNAKED...I don't see it until I look at myself in the mirror in the buff. Then I am like, "who is that fatty staring back at you?" I was smoking hot in college, and I have slowly let myself gain 5-7 lbs a year for the last 15 years and it has added up to a nice apple shaped body. I cannot wait for this surgery to happen so people stop judging this book by its cover.

TiredOfChubRub reacted to Back~To~Amy in Body Dysmorphia In ReverseI think it truly is one of those mysteries if the brain. As you lose weight you probably won't see it. I'm down 40 pounds and people say they see it. I don't. I know its happening because I've gone down a pants size and am not far from going down again, so logically I know my body must look smaller, but I see no change. I'm hoping next Monday when I do pics again, I will see it.

After one week, I cheated once, but it wasn't too bad. I didn't go out for pizza or anything, just had a couple spoon fulls of Beans. I can not think of anything I have done in my life that was more difficult than this, but it is half way over now. distractions are the best thing to keep you honest, and making sure you drink your shakes before you get too hungry,

TiredOfChubRub reacted to MrzSongbird in Anyone Have Cigna? You are done lady bug Cigna only requires three months. Contact Cigna and your surgeons office asap! Good luck

I can actually have more three days after the surgery than I can now. Plus I will be resting then, and not moving around a lot like I was at work. Yes, I am addicted to food, it is my crack. And yes i wanted very badly to cheat last night. Talk to me after you are on the liquid diet and then you will see how difficult it is. Anyway I made it through, without eating anything that my nutirionilist said I couldn't. I joined this board looking for support, not judgement, so please keep that in mind the next time you consider replying to a question from me.

We need to give him a little slack though here. To compare the difficulty of being on liquids before surgery and after surgery is almost night and day. Prior to surgery, we are relying soley on our own willpower and well, let's face it, if that's all it took- none of us would need surgery. Post surgery, our entire body has gone through shock and physically most people don't have that same sensation of hunger. I won't say everyone is like that, but I think that is most.
Anyhow, just do the best you can on this and understand that if your surgeon is really strict on the pre-op diet that you risk having to reschedule your surgery. Probably not unless you really blow it, but it's something you want to look into.

TiredOfChubRub got a reaction from 4ALongerLife in Can't Take The Protein Drinks, Also Getting DehydratedWhat is the difference between the Isopure and the Cytosport (taste wise)? I tried the Isopure and found that it has a dry aftertaste. Does the Cytosport?

TiredOfChubRub reacted to Dooter in I Am Terrified Of Losing My Hair!I'm shedding like a lab in early summer!! I do know that it will grow back, as this already happened to me once at the onset of menopause. It did grow back then, so i'm confident it will this time too. Totally worth it.
