Welcome back Shirley! We missed you!

I made it to 189.8 today!! Ha ha...I made it, barely.

kilopitre I think we're not supposed to gulp because once we're filled to the right amount if we gulp it will just come right back up. It hasn't happened to me yet...and I do have a tendency to gulp my Water. Just be careful. ;)

Thanks so much, I was just hoping it would not hurt anything. It never came back up. Maybe I'm not gulping as much as I thought. Congrats on getting down to 189!:rose:

Well It has been a long week.. I was having a bad day this week.. I noticed more of my hair was coming out.. I was getting depressed.. and I became iratable.. i jumped on everyone.. felt like crying.. just bummed.. I called my dietician..and she told me to try Biotin pills or zinc and I would notice a difference.. well I have been on them for 5 days.. and I have.. I feel a little better.. my hair is not coming out like it was..

I looked for the muscle milk at GNC things like that.. and it was very $$$$.. I will have to look on ebay..

Jimboss you are sooo funny.. and the (I can't remember who it was) the cat story.. I laughed..

I had my 2nd fill and since then .. I have not been able to eat dinner.. it gets stuck.. and I PB.. Breakfast and lunch and Snacks are no problem..

I went to an Ear, Nose , throat dr this week also.. and I have to have my tonsils out.. I am 37.. he said it will be harder for me.. than if I was younger.. he said I will loose about 10 pounds.. that is fine.. I will be on liquid diet again..

Christine, I had my tonsils out at age 22 and it was hard. But they say you will lose weight, but i didn't. Good ol' me was hungry that night and by God, I had pizza....okay, not the smartest idea....it hurt...the next day. Warm liquids was all i could eat for about 5 days or so. Anything made with milk or that was thick, i couldn't swallow. Made too thick of a mucus to go down.

Anyway, enough about my mucus...lol

I am down another pound today....yeah me!!

Finally some movement on the scale. Okay so maybe it was the most recent fill, maybe it was getting back on meds for my insulin resistance, or maybe, just maybe it is the 2 day stomach bug i have....lol....if you know what i mean.....I'm not full of crap...people..lol...gross.

Whatever...I am happy, I am back down to my wedding weight of 1.5 years ago.

Well I'm still at 189.8! So I'm down 8.8 for the challenge. I started my period today (sorry Jim) so I'm probably going to fluctuate this week a bit with Water gain. And I'm going to Pittsburgh for the long weekend...and I'll probably drink too much there. Don't judge me, I'll be on vacation. :) Long story short, I'm glad I'm still in the 180s today.

I think St. Pat's might be too soon for a challenge since it's just over a month away...maybe Easter. I think it's on April 8. I think that's like 7 weeks or so. What does everyone think?

Easter works for me. Wouldn't you know I would have to hit my first plateau right in the middle of the Valentines day challenge. Hope the scale starts moving soon. However, I have noticed a huge difference in my body shape. Just tried on a pair of jeans today that I wore a month ago and I was swimming in them. Must be the exercise. I say let's shoot for 10 lbs.? Have a great week all!!!!!

I think April 8th will work for a challenge date, and I'm up for either 10 or 15 pounds! :)

So I took a progress pic, and as horrified as I am to show my before photo, I thought I would post. The before pic was a couple days before surgery and the other pic was from Friday night. I would love to see progress pics of other Oct Bandsters. Please post!!!

chrispy! wow wow wow! you look great!

shirley, welcome back, hope your recovery is very quick!

regarding muscle milk - i have been drinking it for a week about 30 - 60 mins before my workout (just 1 a day). i do have the regular muscle milk (not lite because i burn between 600 - 900 cals a workout). the peanut butter/chocolate is really good. i tried the banana creme today and it was OK. i will not be getting it again though.

cheapest i have found is on Amazon.com. it is under 20 bucks for a 2.?? pound tub. i think it is the reason i've lost 4.75 pounds last week.

ok ... pictures. i posted on the before/after board, but here it is again. 4 months and 2 days i am down 80.25 pounds thanks to working my ass off at the gym.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
