October 2006 Bandsters!

Recommended Posts

My friend & I were banded October 20, 2006 by Dr. De La Garza in Monterrey, MX. We had our 1st fill in December. I have only lost 15 pounds since surgery but she has lost 35+. We are looking for fill doctors/nurses in Oklahoma that will fill Mexico patients. Can Anyone Help????

Welcome L JO! You might want to check the OK board under local USA support and ask around for fil docs. Good luck!

I'm off to Seattle for the weekend, but I'll check in a couple of times!

Hey Jimboss, how ya doin?

I got my second fill yesterday. I got 1.0 more so I am not at 2.4cc in my 4.0cc band. I am thrilled he gave me a good amount. Still on liquids so I don't know what it will be like eating.

Hey Jules, doing better than I deserve I'm sure. Good for you on your fill! I am needing another fill but don't get to see the Doc for another two weeks! Unless there is a cancellation of course. I really have to be careful right now I reckon. My saving grace will be what little will power I have and my exercise routine.

Glad your doing great!

Hello October Bandsters.

I hope all is going good. I have not been on for a month very busy with Holiday. Lots of changes happening with my health since I joined the health club. I have a lot more energy than I have ever had, but I also get hungry after the workout which is not good either. I need to have more Water intake. I only drink about 30 oz of water. I have always struggled with water. I have not had had pop since September. But I drink plenty of milk. Any suggestions to make a person like water? Thanks.... Ps. Wish you all the success in the world. Jules

The stores sell a lot of things now low in calorie, but depends on taste.

Like Chrystal Light. I buy their pink Lemonade, it's decent.. Up here Krogers has their own brand of. for Water only. They look like a small straw, lots of flavors, and it's for a individual glass, so it's handy too.

I believe Kool Aid makes it too, but again, the tasteing part is up to you.

Shirley

Hi Everyone, The weather is freezing in KC so it is great to catch up with my post reading today. I went in for my 2nd fill yesterday ($175). I am filled to 6cc in my 4cc band. I had a long talk with the surgeon and they assure me this is safe and fill amounts just differ from person to person. I definitely feel full faster now. They emphasized Protein first, no drinking with meals, nickel sized bites, and chew, chew, chew- so I am trying to make better choices. They felt I may need one more (very small if any) fill in a month, so we will see. I have only lost 15 pounds so far (2 pounds down for the Valentines day challenge). Only 2 exercise sessions in - I really need to get back on track with that. I continue to be encouraged by your posts and success! Thanks!

Hi everyone! Sorry I haven't posted in a while. Between the move and trying to get my internet set up at my new place, I haven't been online much. Everyone seems to be doing great! And JimBoss - I have to say that I love your positive attitude!

I hope everyone is doing well with their Valentine's Day challenge. I'm at 6 lbs, so I'm almost half-way there! It will take a lot of work, but I really want to make it!

hi Dancing-

i am not a Water person either - at all. it has to be ICE cold for me to drink it plain and since i am always SOOO incredibly cold now, that's not an option.

i agree w/ Shirley - crystal light is the answer for me and the pink lemonade is the only one i have found that i like. i am a green tea drinker and cannot stand their version of green tea .. ick!

good luck to you!

I have found a green tea that I really like..it is in Sam's Club or in my local grocery store. Giant Eagle..it is called "4C".. it is sugar free.. it is very good..I have tried Lipton's ..and I did not like it..

Hi Christine,

I actually brew my own from green tea bags and add sweet & low. there is a local St. Louis grocery store called Schnucks and thier brand name is the best i have found. of course i now live in Texas so every time i go home to STL i pick up a box or two.

i'll have to try the 4C if i run out of bags.

thanks for the tip!

flavored water is great. I find that I am always grabbing one. I like it very cold. It helps me get the water in.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
