Hi All

I logged on and just read the last couple of pages of posts, here's whats going on with me.

today I am one week out!!!!!!!!!! I feel much less hungry than I did the first couple of days. I feel very full after a Protein shake or a big cup of Soup. I have started experimenting with smooth Soups, some are very good. Last night I did Tomato Soup with some grated mexican cheese (not too much) and it was delicious. Also, the boxed soupls "Select" are great, I tried the creamy butternut squash and loved it, NO LUMPS.

I am feeling very optimistic these last couple of days. I started a thread asking about "normal" diets from our "experienced bandsters". I have to say I started the thread because I was getting nervous that I would never enjoy food again. Anyway, the response was great, people are eating out, eating normal foods, better choices and losing weight, EXACTLY what I want.

God Bless you people who are on the treadmill and walking the neighborhood. My incision sights are sore but I will walk on the treadmill tonight for at least 10 min, its not much but its the promise I will make to myself.

I can't wait to move on to mushie stage. My dr. does two weeks of liquid and I WILL stick to it. This is a lifetime decision and I think the choices I make immediately following surgery will affect how I handle the band in the months/years to come.

Good luck to all Oct Bandsters, let's hang in there together!!!

Moon goddess - I guess I'm feeling a little emotional too;)

I Had My Band Put In On October 5th, When I Went For My Check Up 9 Days Later I Was Down 26lbs.

I Had A Really Hard Time The First Week Out Of Surgery, The Clear liquids Did Not Satisfy Me And I Got Really Depressed, As Soon As I Could Start On Soft Solids I Became A New Person.

Get Through The First Two Weeks And It Gets Alot Easier.

Please If After The Surgery You Need Someone To Talk To About How You Are Feeling Send Me A Thread And Ill Be There.

Good Luck To All Of You On Your New Journey.

Speaking of itchy incisions, how long did your SteriStrips take to fall off? Today is Day 4 for me and they're still on but itchy as all hell!

Also, my port incision has lots of bruising around it. Is/was anyone in the same boat? Thanks!

I was banded 10/24. Up and walking as soon as I was awake. Came home yesterday, 10/25, and even went to work today, only the port area is a bit sore. I am envious of all of you who say you are not hungry. I feel like I'm starving and it is an effort not to eat. I was a bit depressed about how hungry I am until I received a message from a woman who said he depression will go away once I can stat on some Soups. Well, still hungry, but not giving up - no not giving up after 2 days.

Ms883

Had to lose 17lbs pre op - so it feels like the "good old days" when I was always on a diet. :-(

My glue started pulling and stretching after the first week. I shower everyday. During the second week i slowly cut them back as they peeled up. Eventually they came all off. That was by my 2wk office visit. They look GREAT> I still have a HUGE bruise now not at the port site but the one right in front It is barely green around the edges yet. But the glue coming off helped with the itching too.

Good luck

Hello. I was banded on October 11th. Everything has gone well for me. I will get my first fill at 6 weeks post op. My concern is that I see that a lot of people lose 20 plus pounds while they are still on their liquid diet. I have only lost 10 pounds in 2 weeks. I am not sure if I am doing something wrong. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

I only lost 6 lbs the first month I was banded. I truly think your body loses at a certain rate...which is different for everyone! I am an October bandster, only I am celebrating one year tomorrow!!!! It has gone fairly slow for me, but trust me when I say it the best decision I ever made. I can go into any store and buy the cute clothes, and the smaller sizes FIT! The difference in my energy and confidence is amazing. It has been a slow steady journey for me, I hung steady losing 1-2 lbs a week for the first 9-10 months...and since I got under 180 I have really slowed down. I go for a fill Saturday, so hopefully I will be very close to goal by the New Year! Happy October banding October band babies!!!

MS883 - when are you hungry? i found that i was really hungry in the middle of the night. i would wake up almost every hour because i was so hungry. my 2nd night home i made some Jello and put it in 1/2 cup containers, brought it to bed w/ me and i found 1 - 2 (baby sized_ spoonfuls helped SO much.

good luck, you can do this!

Dani - bruising around the port site is fairly common so i'm told. I had some as well. I would keep the steri strips on as long as possible. The skin around my port incision is all irritated from the steri strips and bandages so I know what you mean.

My doctor does not do the first fill for 8 weeks.

Just a few more days in October for our bansters. Good luck to those who will be banded soon!! There are almost 100 of us being banded this month!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
