  1. I don't look at it as bargaining or bartering. I do think that Self pay patients should get a discount. Not a fee negotiation, just a percentage off. There is not one insurance company that I know of that pays the physician 100% off the billed amount. Some pay as low as 30% of the billed amount and the most I have ever seen is about 70%.
  2. Thanks for the support. I appreciate it.
  3. Hello. I live about 40 minutes south of Columbus. I had my band done last Wednesday in Cincinnatti by Dr. Osbourne. He is at Cincy Weight loss. He was very nice and seems to have a good program. I felt more comfortable there than going to OSU which is closer for me. I was also self pay and he has a program that for one fee covers the surgery, anesthesia, surgery center and a full year of follow up and fills. So far I am very pleased. Dr. Osborne also called the house for the first couple of days to check on me as did the Surgery Center. Hope this helps.

Okay, here I am day 4 post op. I am thinking Wow, I sure jumped in and did this all pretty fast. I think it is normal to have second thoughts after you have made a major life change like this. The pain was a little intense yesterday, but everything seems great today. I feel like a whole different person. The pain was probably bad b/c I wasn't taking my pain meds and was over doing it. I have been reading bad stories about the band on the forums and it scares me a little. I will follow the rules and hope that I do not have any bad results. I can't wait to lose the weight. It will be great for me and for my family. I have to say my husband has been great in helping me so far. I am lucky to have a good support person. I will try to write every day or two. My preop weight was 202#.

  6. Hello. I am in Ohio and was banded last Wednesday. Things seem pretty good so far. I have to admit that some of the posts on this forum are scaring me. I am glad I started reading them AFTER I had the surgery. haha..
