Anyone Use Dr. Nusbaum In Nj?

Recommended Posts

Hi!

Just wondering if anyone has had any experience with Dr. Michael Nusbaum in Morristown/Livingston NJ? He is who I plan on using and so far his entire office staff and Dr. Nusbaum have been very nice, patient and accommodating. He hasn't rushed me out of his office to see someone else and they take the time to talk and answer your questions and concerns.

Has anyone had their surgery done by Dr. Nusbaum? I'm looking to just gain some other insight and perspectives from folks who have had him perform their surgeries. Any problems before, during or after?

Thanks!

Karen

I'm pre op and will be having my VSG by dr nusbaum once I get approved. He did my nasal endoscopy which was uncomfortable but still professionally done.

I'm in Essex county. Let me know if you want to chat further.

Hello!

I am a Dr Nusbaum's patient. I was sleeved 12/17/13. I'm a physician myself. I've spoke to several surgeons before I finalized my choice. No regrets. I'm very happy with Dr. Nusbaum and his office. Everything went very smoothly. Few days after the surgery I had a question for a Doctor, he called imediately. He also using a med application on iPhone, so you can text directly to him, bypassing answering service. All the PAs, that are working with him, are extremely knowledgeable and skillful. The office staff are polite and courteous. I would recommend Dr. Nusbaum to anyone who is looking for a surgeon in this area.

Wow! That's cool that you are a newly sleeved physician. What specialty are you in?

Glad you are doing well!

What's the med app on iPhone? Is it strictly for physician to physician use only? I was never informed about it

Happy 10 days out!! I'm 15 days out (sleeved 12.12) and having a rough time getting in enough liquids and Protein due to pulsing hernia pain after I sip anything

I have very low energy and the PA, Joan insists that I need to get in my Protein and liquids for more energy

I am happy with the staff and all seem very highly skilled and knowledgable

I really didn't shop around for a surgeon because I needed a doc who was in network & very close to home so dr n fit the bill perfectly. I'm glad it worked out for me & you - i just can't wait until I'm back to my pre op energy levels.. I really miss my spin classes and just being able to run errands and drive without it feeling like I just ran a marathon

Nice to meet another fellow patient! I have a couple months to go with my required supervised diet, but so far I also have no complaints.

Is the app called MedXCom?

Hi sandisleeve,

Gongrats on your 15-days journey! I agree that most probably your low energy is due to insufficient amount of Protein. My first week I was very weak and lightheaded. As soon as I started drinking Protein Shakes, my energy level went back to pre-surgery (almost). As far as liquids go, I found that consuming SF Jello is much easier than plain Water. It's VERY important to get at least 50 oz of fluids daily. I know it's not easy but please make it your priority for now. It's a full time job to get in all fluids plus Proteins.< /p>

I'm ER physician.

Hello work2do,

It's very nice to meet you too! I still can't believe that I was sleeved only 10 days ago.

Yes, the application is MedXcom. This is application for patients to communicate directly with the doctor.

I will probably text my surgeon tomorrow, because I don't like how is one of my smaller incisions look like.

I'm very excited for you that soon your going to be among us! Let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Well now I have 2 friends on here who have my doc. You two are ahead of me, so don't get mad if I ask a lot of questions.

It's funny I can't wait for the surgery.......the trans nasal endoscopy in two weeks...not so much!! Lol!

Work2do,

Don't worry about endoscopy. I chose to have conscious sedation. Procedure took 10 min. I was taken into procedure room, next thing I remember was recovery room.

I don't mind any questions. I'm happy if I can help!

I am not being put to sleep because I am driving. From what everyone says it is just uncomfortable. I can deal for 10 minutes.....though probably a long 10 minutes to me lol lol. I was told I can watch the procedure as well. To me that is fascinating ????

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
