Been on liver shrink diet for over a week and .....

Hey guys,

I started my liver shrink diet last Wednesday and have not lost a pound. Is that normal?! Mine is a little different. They put me on a Protein Shake for Breakfast, prt bar for lunch, 3oz lean meat, sm baked potato, and sm salad for dinner with 3 servings of fruit and yogurt in between the three meals throughout the day. I am worried it is not working and that I will have complications during surgery or that they might not even be able to do it (surgery is Wed the 20th). Any thoughts or comments from experience with this diet?

Thanks,

Sarah

I didn't lose any weight during pre-op either and I wasn't allowed to eat any solid food at all during the "liver shrink". You're fine. Congrats on surgery!

My liver shrinking was just VERY low carb, basically pure protein as much as possible for 2 weeks. The purpose of the LSD is to throw you into fat burning or 'ketosis'. If you want to see if your diet is working you can ask the pharmicist for some ketosis sticks. They are just little strips you dip in your urine to test for ketones. If you have them present the diet is doing it's job, weight loss or not. If you don't have them present you may want to tweak it with the help of your Dr. Good Luck on your surgery!!!:biggrin1:
