What is your current fill in your 4cc band?

Recommended Posts

Sorry Denise, I just read your post about getting stuck. I rarely get stuck. I sometimes eat too much and feel like I swallowed a golfball, but rarely get stuck.

Try to remember to chew food until it is almost liquid. Sometimes I forget this and swallow chunks of food too large to pass through my band. If you keep getting food stuck even after you chew to liquid, then be careful you might be too tight.

Let us know how it goes.

To me being restricted enough feels like: I eat 2-3 oz. of Protein and 1/4-1/2 cup of veggies and I feel full and am not hungry for 4 hrs. The cravings are gone. I am eating to be healthy not to be full. This is a new feeling for me, I have always wanted more, more, more. If you are getting stuck you may not be chewing enough. It is like you can't chew enough sometimes depending on the food!

Email in private if you want.

Isn't that what it feels like when food is stuck? I know it's not from eating too much because it can happen in the beginning before I have eaten much. It feels like a golf ball stuck in my chest. I am learning to take tiny bites. I was chewing plenty, but taking too big of bites. I am going to stay with this fill awhile, until I learn to eat without that happening.

I am getting another fill on Wed. I haven't had anything get stuck in awhile and I get hungry really fast. I am curious how much I will end up with. I have

2.0 right now, and last time he tried to move me to 2.5 but I couldn't swallow the Water he gave me, so he took the .5 out and I have been at 2.0 for a couple of months now. I have only lost 5 lbs in the last 2 months.

I have only lost 5 lbs in the last 2 months.

I think that is a pretty good indication of needing a fill. So you got over the stuck thing hey?

Sorry I never did respond to your last thread. I think once you get to 3....who nelly, there is very little room for much.

I had my surgery 10/31/06. My first fill was 1.5. I went to 2.0 in January, 2.2 in February and then 2.6 on March 4. That's when my trouble started. I had never in my life had heartburn or acid reflux or acid in general. It was awful. I am much better now, and within 15 pounds of my goal. As of today, I have lost 92 pounds.

Yes, I hardly ever get anything stuck anymore. I am more careful though. I am a little afraid of what's going to happen with a new fill. I will find out Wed!

I just hope it makes a huge difference in my weight loss!

Hi there..

Today I went in for my first fill and I have a 9.75 band with 4cc max fill and I was filled to 3.5 today I was kinda shocked . i am sure on the amount he filled i asked him 3 times and saw it myself . My doctor told me before my first fill that my band was the smallest they make and it was lose on.. Omg I am soooooooooooooo tight I can barely get Water down me .. not sure if swelling occurs right away or not.. I am kinda worried since I had a huge first fill that I will not have much room for a future fill when i start losing

has anyone have a huge fill the first time? would love some input here

Lisa

This was your first fill and they filled you to 3.5. They usually start below .5 for the first and build from there. I can understand that you can't even swallow Water. I would call and have about 3/4 of that taken out.

:kiss2:I have 2.5cc and am still not at my sweet spot. This last fill he gave me .5 and I can tell the difference but I am still not where I need to be.

That sounds very odd to me. See if you can't get that clarified. On a 10cc band, I can see a first fill of 3.5, but on a 4.0 max????? That sounds overly aggressive. And some doctors consider 3.5 the maximum on a 4.0 band.

It took me months to get to 3.0 and I am tight. If I had been put to 3.5 right away, I don't think I could swallow my own spit.

Let us know how you are doing Lisa.

That is way too big of a fill to start out. I had 2.5 put in last time and I couldn't swallow the Water he gave me. I was totally prepared for an aggresive fill because I was tired of not losing. I had him take the .5 out. I had read on here all the problems of being too tight, and I didn't want to ask for trouble. It took me a long time to chew properly and cut my bites small enough. Even though I haven't lost well at 2.0, I got used to how I was supposed to eat, and I am ready for another fill.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
