What is your current fill in your 4cc band?

Recommended Posts

I had my first fill today -- he put in 2.8 ccs. That seems like a lot compared to others on here. Oh well, I guess he knows best!! He did it under fluroscopy and watch me swallow the nasty barium stuff and kept filling until the barium went through the band verrrry slowly. It felt so bizarre. We'll see how it all goes once I can go back to normal food. I am sooooo ready to have restriction, but at the same time am nervous about having too much. Any thoughts? Thanks!

Jenne - I wouldn't worry about the fill and being too tight...as long as your doc is near anyway...that is my problem...I have to travel by plane to get to a fill doc and have to stay there several days to make sure there aren't any issues. I understand that the fluroscopy fills are quite good and offer a more exact fill amount for a "sweet spot". Don't worry too much, that's why the band is ADJUSTABLE!

Hi, I've been banded since the 9th Oct 07 with a 4cc band. I started at 277p and went for my First fill on the 9/11/07 I was 260p had a fill of 1.5cc

Second fill was 30/11/07 I was 249p had a fill of 1cc

so I have a total of 2.5cc

I don't have restriction, cause when I eat I have to make a point of stopping myself because I don't feel full or hungry, and I wouldn't say content because I feel I could eat somemore. It will be a week on friday since my second fill so I'm thinking that I should give it more time, but then I feel I'm wasting time because I know I don't have restriction. Any advice would be helpful thanks

Banded by Dr B Bowden

Brisbane 277pounds

277/248/165

Start/current/goal

I had another fill yesterday and I'm up to 3.9. I did ask how can you put in a 4cc band. She said just about as much as we want. I'm hoping for some restriction this time. I have had very little, so we will see. I had gain this time also.

brispenny - I also have the 4cc band and didn't have much restriction until I was filled to 3.0cc. He filled me up on a Wednesday to 2.5 and I called the next day to say I was just able to eat too much so he filled it up to 3.0. I'd say it's a pretty good spot...there are times I feel I could eat more, but the band stops me from doing that (as was intended). I'd say go for another fill...I just happened to know right away that it wasn't enough and needed more. (I have to travel by air to get to my doctor and have to stay a week after a fill for adjustments/issues.) Can't say that I've lost a TON of weight, but I don't mind losing slowly...

Carol1951 - I have the 4cc band and was told that it will actually hold more than 4cc. Make sure there isn't a leak in your band/tubing...have the doc pull all the Fluid out to make sure that there's 3.9cc in there before adding more next time.

Good luck!

I had my second fill yesterday. 1cc on my first fill and .5 for this one. No restriction to speak of. My doctor had told me to make an appointment 4 weeks down the line, when I left yesterday. I called today and made it for next week. I don't see any reason to waste time...I am currently at the weight I was prior to beginning this whole process. I'd like to see some results. I admit, I haven't been exercising (multiple excuses, but mostly because of school) and will begin that this week.

I go back a couple months in the support thread here and see people in july who have just got their second fill. Why wait so long? I can understand if you have to travel, otherwise, lets get the ball moving.

I went back to the doctor today and he put another .5cc into my band for a total of 2cc. I really hope this will help.

He told me to wait a couple weeks before coming back lol. I will do that. He also told me that walking wasn't exercise. News to me. I guess he wants me to do muscle building exercises. I can do all that. I just want to feel some restriction. I can eat very healthy, it's the amount that sometimes causes problems.

I pray that this helps a little.

It's so weird! It's not like the 'full' feeling I used to have. It's like you feel it in your chest and when it starts to threaten to come back up you kinda know to stop lol.

I remember someone saying that they had to adjust to each band adjustment. Like it was getting used to the band all over again. I am definately not used to taking small bites and chew chew chewing. It's something I have heard alot about but up until now had no need of. It's a little hard to remember at first but you get a signal *ouch* if you forget.

I'm starting my exercise this Monday. We have rain here in Socal right now!! Amazing and great. We are cleaning out the garage this weekend and monday I will head to the gym with my Bodybugg. I hope I lose some weight. I haven't at all yet. It will feel sooooooo good.

Thank you God for this lapband. :amen:

I have 2.4cc and am not sure it's enough. I haven't lost anything yet. I lost about 10 lb postop and gained it all back. I think after my 2nd fill, I am feeling a bit more full. I hope this time does the trick!!!

I have 3.5 in a 4cc band. I started with 2.5 and it wasn't enough. I lost weight int he month post op and then stopped losing. After the second fill ( october 27) I've lost 16 pounds in 6 weeks. I pb whenever i forget to chew and I am 'tight' - I can't really eat in the morning, so I have a Protein Shake. lunch is small and dinner is about 1 - 1 1/2 cups of WELL chewed food -whatever I like. I some days have to work to get in 1200 calories.

I should have a bit of an unfill but for the most part this is working well for me . I am not hungry. Let me repeat that - I am NOT hungry - that really blows me away.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I had a fill in October of 2.3 cc's in a 4cc band(I think)

I went back at 6 weeks and under fluoro the Dr only

pulled back .5 cc's. He put only 1.5 back in when I was

hoping that I would be close to 3cc's by now. I felt

no restriction at all and of course started taking

advantage of the fact that I could eat!! I go back to his

office 4 days later hoping for another fill .He's trying to tell

me that the Fluid could be in the excess tubing that I have

and once that equalizes, I should feel tightness. I have never

heard of such crap and basically told him so. I have had

a quite a few problems with my band and I was concerned that I had a

leak, which is one of the problems I have had in the past.

So, on 12/27 I go for another fluoro and we will see whats

happening and I will hopefully get a substantial fill.

If I have a leak, I am basically screwed cause my insurance

does not cover the hospital that he goes to.

I'm at 1.8 ccs in my 4 cc band. I'm at a great level and can only eat 1/2 of healthy food at one time.... Now the fattening foods...that is another matter!!!

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket. I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to. And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
