What is your current fill in your 4cc band?

Recommended Posts

Just got back from my 12th fill--I'll know if it works in a few days, most likely. Or a few weeks? As always, I'm hopeful that this will be THE ONE. It's so hard to decide to have a fill given that Christmas is so close and all my kids are coming for the holidays and, at our house, food IS LOVE! But I decided I got this band for a reason and the holidays are no exception. I do have some restriction but not enough. I can still eat a whole piece of pizza with the crust for dinner and this morning we went to breakfast--my husband and I shared a plate but I ate 1/2 of a scrambled egg, 1/2 of a link sausage, and an entire huge pancake. That's too much for Breakfast, I think. Anyway, I'm crossing my fingers!

I just had my second fill of .3cc, so now am at 1.3cc. I do have restriction and if I am not careful, my band buddy lets me know it. I still have a problem with night snacking and am trying to find other things to do instead of eating. But last year I would have put on weight this time of year and this year I have lost. This time last year I was 235 lbs, now 185 - 50 lbs gone in one year. Yeah me!!

I'm now at 2cc in my band. So far I think this may be my sweet spot. I had the fill a week ago tomorrow, and it's still feeling oh so nice. I'm hoping this one lasts a long long time.

PS. I think the reason for not polling the fill amount is that people's fills change on a regular basis, increasing and dereasing for various reasons.

I just had a fill today and I'm at 4.25cc in a 4 cc band. So far, it's taking me a while to drink orange juice. I feel so shaky because I haven't eaten all day.

So I go to the doc and say 'Hey doc! I need a fill...' and he says OK. Seeing that I put on .5 pounds since the last time I saw him 2 weeks ago, he fills a little more aggressively than I thought he would. He'd previously told me that his method for fill (as he'd been schooled) was 1cc, .5, .5, .25, .25...etc. Well I was up to 2cc's (3 previous fills) so he went ahead and put in .6 cc more. He was gonna do .5 but I think he drew up more so he just went ahead with the .6.

Well, I feel a little more restriction, but not enough. Maybe it will tighten up before I go back in 2 weeks.

My fills always get tighter at about the 2 week mark. Strange, but true.

I think I am too tight. I can't eat anything until around 2 p.m. and when I do eat, it has to be pureed. I PB'd for 1st time on Thursday so when I called him and suggested I needed an unfil, he said I probably irritated it and to stay on liquids for another 48 hrs. Well today I tried pureed black Beans and it did go down but it takes forever to eat it as I have to eat, wait for it to finally go down, then eat more. I'm hanging in there until Wednesday and will definitely get an unfil.

Oh, I forgot to ask him how much he put in ths time and the Nurse told me the records or the doctor won't be available until Wednesday so I'm hanging in there until then.

I'm at 2.6cc and can still eat too much...going in on Tuesday 01-08-08 for another fill. I need to start losing. I guess if I stopped with the holiday eating, it would help :straight.

Well, I got my second fill on Wednesday (1/4) - am now up to 3.2 ccs. Well, so far I can definitely tell a difference. I was on Clear Liquids up until this evening. I had a cup of Tomato Soup and a small slice of soudough bread (soaked in the Soup to make it easier to eat). Wow. I ate about half the soup and half the slice of bread and all of the sudden thought I was going to throw up! I had to run to the bathroom to spit out the food in my mouth. Luckily the nausea feeling let up and I was okay. Guess that meant I was full, huh? It's going to take some getting used to , but I LOVE that I got full off so little food. Yay band!

I've been banded since Feb. 12th and have had 12 fills. I'm at 2.9 cc's and I'm not sure where to go from here. I've lost 42 lbs., but goal will be around 60, so getting close. Loss is slow now, only around 2 lbs. a month, but can't eat more than 2/3 cup of any solid food at a meal. I'm itching to loose the rest by summer. One more fill might put me over the edge. Any advice? Thanks All! My ticker is not updated, sorry.

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
