I am three years out, I couldn't drink anything with carbonation until about a year ago. I do enjoy the occasional beer, but prefer my wine or white russians. However, I can't drink a beer unless it has been at least a couple of hours since I have ate, or I become extremely uncomfortable. Everything in moderation...

Thank you Susan you just gave me hope. I was wondering if I was going to give up my dream of a kegerater next to my grill.

I am a low BMI vsg patient. I really have not been counting calories or watching my carbs. I do go to bootcamp twice a week. I am at 7 1/2 weeks and I'm at nearly half my goal. I am loving my sleeve. I'm fine giving up sodas but the beer was making me a little uneasy.

Glad I could help. I didn't get the sleeve to restrict myself from things I enjoy, I got it to help me enjoy them, just in moderation. I don't buy into the "stay away from carbonation because it will stretch your stomach" philosophy. At three years out, mine hasn't stretched.

I did learn that I have to watch how much I drink. Since getting sleeved, I am an extreme light weight. Two beers and I have quite a buzz going, lol.

So is the "no carbonation" beer or soda or from whatever drink due to potential high caloric intake, potential sleeve damage or what?

Im not sure of the why not and want to be sure im not going to bust open my sleeve or cause a leak or something.

I will ask my Dr. also butt wont see him for a week or so. Any help?

Off subject- but I don't like seeing men drink wine- I always see it as a women's drink- I don't like seeing women drink beer either ...

I love white Russians - how are they going down?

I'm more a whiskey and beer girl myself - but wine isn't half bad! A good white wine with a shot of peach schnapps is amazing!

My husband accidentally bought me some wine with a little bit of carbonation. It just didn't sit well with me. I do drink wine and I will have an occasional vodka and cranberry.

@ OTR....I wish my husband did t drink wine. I could totally have a bottle of wine last me for weeks, but since he feels the need to finish every bottle I open it doesn't last in my house. However my husband would ever admit this to his buddies...

I would kill to guzzle an Amstel Light...

My theory is that they tell you to avoid carbonation because so many carbonated drinks have tons of calories and/or stimulate appetite with artificial sweeteners, and can obviously also cause gas. And carbonated drinks can help leech Calcium from bones.

There really isn't any evidence of carbonation causing stretching.

All that having been said, it's probably a good idea to avoid carbonation except for occasionally. I doubt a couple of beers a week is going to kill anyone, just keep 'em small and light.

There's lots of calories so you just have to work harder during the week but Long Island Teas work well for me also Bacardi Lemon with Water and I mix in Crystal Light Ice Tea- very good!! Carbonation does not work- I am 3 months out

I find men who drink wine to be very sexy. :)

I was thinking the same thing. Nothing sexier than a man that knows how to pick and present a good wine to his significant other :)

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
